There was an informal poll amongst leading European managers around the time Pellegrini was our manager, & when asked "Aside from Messi, which player would you gladly have from Barca?' The resounding answer came back as Xavi.

David Silva is our Xavi. The brilliant world class conductor, who makes our team tick, & without whom we're just not the same team.

Barca are only now beginning to recover post-Xavi, he was THAT important to how they played. Opposition fans always quote KDB as our main man, but City fans will always nearly quote Silva as our main man, similar to how Messi blinded everyone to Xavi's brilliance.
 
One of the best things about Pep as a your coach is that you know that nothing is random, he always has a plan.
I dont know if the rumours about Fred are true, but if City really sign him, i bet it will make sense when we see the team in the pitch.

I agree with people talking about the aspect of height, because Fernandinho is not tall but is able to win a lot of air duels. But i dont know if Pep sees Fred as a replacement for Fernandinho anyway.
