i bought a portable one frtom wilko's for about 7 quid. After fiddling with the position it was ok.

any aerial will do as long as the signal is o.k.
digital signal is ficckle, it is either good or off...
my advise would be to get a half decent aerial and a booster too.
as for the boxes you can put them where you want.
and don't get me started with the advise that the goverment are giving out as i think it is very poorley worded..

It depends where you live mate, portable aerials won't get freeview in my area but a new roof aerial only cost me £35 and he fitted it in 15 minutes.
