Maybe the opportunity to play with Mbappe and Neymar is a bigger deal for him than being manager by Pep, or maybe it's simply a better financial offer from Paris.

Or that he`s guaranteed to win the league title every season he`s playing there

If it's all about finance then he isn't the player for us, that's the point Pep makes when he's seeking his players. You've got to want it in your heart not your wallet.

I thought the Dutch connection / Cruyff philosophy would overpower the finances and pull of playing for PSG

Every year there is a signing that has to happen, remember it was all about Fred, then it changed to Jorginiho, then Nombele and now FDJ.

Prior to this it was Isco, Fabinho etc...

Every year there is a player we have to get and the next year there is always someone else.

We will get in a replacement for Ferny and it will be a quality replacement with the right attitude.

We haven't pulled out of any deal for De Jong.

Some of the reporting today seems to be a convenient hybrid of what we already knew in the week from the Dutch press, that a delegation from Paris has made representation to Ajax.

Hard to envisage a scenario where Ajax are ringing Paris within a matter of hours after apparently being told City weren't sealing a deal on Thursday.
