Frenkie de Jong

If we didn't have either and were choosing one I'd agree with you. However we already have one who isn't going anywhere so it isn't a choice. My opinion is, if Bernardo stays I see our midfield 3 in 2 years coming from Rodri, Bernardo, Foden,Grealish, and an aging KDB, plus possibly Mcatee and Lavia. I only see us possibly spending on De Jong if Bernardo goes this summer, but hope he doesn't.

Couldn't agree more with everything you've said.

It seems Barca can't do anything in January until they offload a salary or two. DeJong could be the most likely candidate for Barca to free up money for signings unless someone wants Dembele out of nowhere.

Xavi isn’t registered?!

Don't know the truth in this but one barca journalist was saying Xavi is fine with De Jong going as they have Gavi and Pedri.

He’s also fine with a retired Dani Alves taking up squad space. Off to a great start

All Barca news are media/management made up. Every person on this planet knows they can't afford anyone let alone Sterling. They need to sell a lot more than De Jong to be able to afford Sterlings fee and wages. They took a hit with Koemans sacking as well. Its just ridiculous how journalist still link Sterling to them.

Thing is Barcelona would want us to pay 90m for de jong then want Sterling on loan for remaining of his contract with them paying us nowt only Sterling wages!

Cant see anything happening in January.

He did an interview not so long ago (2019) saying he joined La Liga because he thought it was the best in the world but admitted the Premier League had overtaken it.

A bit unrelated, but I have been saying this in the Haaland thread every time people used to say he would go to Madrid or PSG. No. It’s almost inevitable that players of this stature all want to come to the PL. FdJ just another

I do think the so-called prestige of playing for Real Madrid is still there, that's why they attract the best players consistently and you have somebody like Mbappe zoned in on going there and not entertaining anybody else in the meantime.

I agree with PSG, though. I'm sure the top players would prefer to play in England than in France and the only real attraction(s) of going there are (supposedly) pissing it domestically each year, money and playing with Messi/Neymar.

While we have Pep we have an edge IMO when you add the fact we will pay good money and guarantee titles on top of it for years to come given the age of the squad.

To think, FDJ could've been here in 2019 and won 2 leagues by now, a few domestic cups and been in a Champions League final instead of getting spanked by Bayern year on year.
