We should be focussing solely on local fans - this weird clamour by other clubs searching and gloating about a 'global fan base'. Not for me, ok you get more shirt sales and TV subs but football is meant to be watched by local fans with a connection to the area. I don't want to be 'stealing' fans from Plymouth Argyle for example let alone someone who should be supporting their local Indian Premier team for e.g. We used to moan about these tourist clubs - let's not push for this. Let's remind others as well that football is for local people, SUPPORT YOUR OWN!
UTTER FUCKING BOLLOCKS

You parochial pillock. I am in my 60s and have gone to City all my life and although Manchester born and bred in that time I have lived in a lot of different places and met loyal Blues from all over. Some of them are from a long way from Manchester and support City for many different reasons, sometimes very off the wall, but very few if any are glory hunters; in fact I am an FOC so no one I know supports City due to glory hunting. Most of the people I made friendships with are as loyal as fuck, and I don’t give a fuck where they are from, just happy they are Blues. I don’t know who you think you are, and where you draw the line for SUPPORTING YOUR OWN, but your sentiments are fucking wrong and incredibly weird, fuck off you narrow minded fool

We have moaned like mad about uTd having half of their fan base from ...Cornwall... people SHOULD support their own tea. Its a working class game, should travel down the road to watch their local team..unless you have a connection to the area...what's their not to like /
Maybe you'd be ok with 99% of City's supporters being born within walking distance of the chippy on Claremont Rd., our dads all rag & bone merchants and our mams all cleaners at the bus station, all reading only the Football Pink. I'm not far off that myself but the world has changed. Adventure took me to New Zealand and Hong Kong, love brought me to the u.s., air travel gets me back home when I can. I meet people who know and follow City wherever i go and they're all happy to be part of a world-wide club. Last night I met a bloke from Bangladesh who couldn't get his motor bike started in the snow, I gave him what help i could and when we were done he saw my MCFC scarf and said "Manchester City - Agueroooo!" and we hugged like brothers. And then talked about cricket. So sod off with your narrow provincialism.
And by the way, your last line, it's "there" not "their."

My day is the reason I support City. He was born in Crumpsall in 1933. Father and brother big reds. When he had the choice, he chose City. He said he didn't know why, but never liked fucking United. People said he was the rebel of the family. He said, I knew deep down I was the glory hunter ;-)

Utter rubbish. Why is football “meant to be watched by local fans”

does that mean only local people can manage local teams too??? No Pep for us then.

We want to be supported & admired globally as well as the traditional “blue” families. We are 4 generation blues - some of us have had to move away for work. Does that mean we can’t support Citeh anymore.
I feel huge pride when abroad if I meet people who support City. I don’t sneer at them & tell them it’s against the “football fan” rules.
All folk are welcome to support gods own club.

FFS. It is NOT a game for “working class” only.
I don’t care if all rags come from outside Manchester- indeed I’m slightly envious of the power it gave them & the only reason we are now the top team we have become is because of our global appeal.
If we were only supported by local manc’s we would have far inferior players; the football would decline; the appeal would diminish & people like you would stop going & start moaning on line about the shit football

wake up & smell the coffee. It’s 2023 not 1950

He did qualify his statement by referencing a connection to the area. And then you' go on to knock down an argument that he doesn't make about Pep.

I remember going back to before the takeover, and City were always very much the club which local Mancs supported whilst Man Utd had some locals, but a much higher number of non Mancunian supporters, and that was proven by season ticket holder surveys. Manchester Metropolitan University did a survey on this and found that of the two clubs season ticket holders, Manchester City had a much higher proportion who came from Manchester.

Everyone is welcome at City but imo the local support is much more likely to be CTID than distant supporters who might just be picking City because they are glory hunters.

JFC, I am actually scared of people like you!
