I was referring to the Rock of Gibraltar dispute within which he was unquestionably stupid.
You’ve got to choose your battles - and he chose one against two highly resourced, streetwise operators and decided to fight them on their own territory. Add into the mix the power they held over his working life, some of his highly questionable transfer dealings around that time, their manifest ruthlessness (and thereby willingness to exploit those questionable dealings to their own ends) and what was at stake, his decision to even consider embarking upon litigation of that horse, when the claim appeared to be without merit, was utterly stupid. Upon first blush, in my view the advice he presumably sought on this could have been professionally negligent, even if those advising him didn’t factor in the 99 questions.
It was complete insanity and unleashed a chain of events which must haunt him every time he watches or considers the state that club are now in - I don’t personally buy into him loving the current state of things, as history will now judge him far more poorly - and he will be aware of this.
So, I‘m not saying he’s stupid, just that what he did in relation to that horse, unquestionably was.
Stupid, greedy and mad. And absolutely fucking brilliant.
