I always think it’s a good sign when a foreign player takes their English to the next level. I don’t think it’s possible to do that unless you are completely settled. He’ll be here for a long time.

Fantastic stuff from him yesterday, he had a lot to do when he darted onto that through ball. He works hard and grafts for his goals and it’s good to see them coming after a lean spell in the autumn, Sergio better not take his immediate starting spot for granted Jesus is one goal behind him in all competitions for the season.

What has impressed me about Jesus is his fighting qualities similar to Raheem not the biggest but an absolute nightmare for defenders he just doesnt know how to give up , with that attitude he will go right to the top , cant believe we signed this kid for £25m , time for a new contract and £200m release fee , because if he keeps progressing Barca and Real will be sniffing round.

UK government do not gave his mother and other family members the right to stay more time in the country and they had to back to Brazil. Hope it will not affect him. I assume he is close at least to the other Brazilian players at this point.

Just our of curiosity how come Jesus got a work permit and Luiz didn’t?
I think by the time he'd signed in the January, he'd qualified as an exceptional talent. He cost a lot of money relative to most transfers, same story with wages. And he'd started playing full internationals for a top 10 team.

Plus he was playing regularly in the Brazilian top flight and in their continental competition too.

Luiz just missed out on the criteria I believe.

The requirement for a work permit for a player in a FIFA top 10 ranked country is playing 30% or more of the games over the previous 2 years.

Jesus qualified based on that.

The fee, wages, playing in a top division, playing in the continental cup competition etc. is all part of the appeals process which you go to if you've not played the X% of games for the national team.

Unfortunately Luiz had basically nothing going for him on the appeals criteria.
