Gabriel Jesus rejects new contract offer - The Times

He's on a relatively low wage ATM. Asked the club to be paid as Lingard (100k p/w), and City refused.
Probably earned a lot more than He Pingping this season once bonuses came into effect under Soriano's wage model.

Apparently Sane is doing the same. What happens if they have a shit world cup then?

I thought Jesus signed a 5.5yr deal, but Wiki suggests it was 4.5. This means he has 3 seasons left with us after the WC. I think the club should actually hold firm. There is an offer on the table, he signs it now or after the WC or not at all. Absolutely no need to increase the offer irrespective of World Cup performance. If he hasn't signed it by season end then the club has a choice with lots of time on their side (he still has two years left). Increase the offer, no new offer and/or look to sell. Same for Sane. They are contracted to the Club until the end of their current contracts. If they are not happy with the current contract or the offer of a new contract, then maybe the club should do what is in the best interests of the Club rather than be held to ransom. I am sure there will be plenty of young players keen to join Manchester City (like Sane and Jesus were). It's not like the players we sign are on significantly reduced wages at City compared to other Top-4 clubs in the EPL.

Unfortunately I think that a lot of the players will hold out to see what happens with Pep's contract. If you believe what a lot of players say, they're desperate to work with Pep and which club he's at is almost secondary to that. It wouldn't surprise me if players like Jesus and Sane don't renew so that they can move on if/when Pep leaves.

The biggest “issue” I’ve noticed with Jesus at the moment is that he seems to have temporarily lost the ability to create his own opportunities - what I mean is that if you look back at when he was in Brazil he would take people on and create his own shooting opportunities whereas currently he is mainly contributing via his pressing and one touch predatory finishes. It’s not to say he isn’t doing a decent job for us, just that he’s not flourishing as I personally expected when you consider the comparisons that others make about him and the real Ronaldo, who in my opinion was one of the most complete strikers I’ve ever seen and such a shame injuries damaged his career.

Big assumption that pep would move to another club or even necessarily want the players or the club concerned could or would be willing to pay their wages

Two completely different players. But tbf, the first one to compare Jesus to Ronaldo was Ronaldo Nazario himself :)

Maybe he's just playing to the instructions he's being given by Pep, and that it isn't really an "issue".

I totally agree. when he first came and also when we were signing him he looked like a fantastically quick, skilful player who was a real crowd pleaser. Like sane when he is on fire.

It seems during the course of the season , this flair and grasping the opportunity has gone from his game - either due to the demands/injury or actually coached out of him .

Its weird he was a much more exciting player at the start of the season , than the end of the season. he scores and runs around and presses but he has definitely lost something in his play as a consequence.
