Gambling firms back live sports advertising ban

A small step in the right direction but stopping it in-play does very little.

There's still going to be wall-to-wall advertising the rest of the time.

It should only be on after 9pm.
 
Football doesn't need betting in any way. Gambling absolutely needs football.
While football isn't reliant on gambling, it is reliant on the money that Sky and BT pump into the game. And guess where they got a huge chunk of their income from.

They won't be at all happy with this as that's the bulk of their in-game advertising revenue going up in smoke.

The US channels seem to do just fine on that count.

I'm not sure there's a desperate shortfall in advertising. Again, it's the same argument as was put for tobacco advertising.
