Incredible how people think spending 50m on a winger would have been the best option considering a CB left and another is leaving, our only true defensive mid left and also our only winger who started on the bench most games left as well.

Can Bale play all of those positions? Or would we have had to spend more money to replace them as well.

People are looking at what would have been brought to the team - Garcia / Rodwell and sinclair have played token parts at best. Nastasic has played a lot and looks a good buy but Lescott could have played in most of those games - whereas bale would have given us a totally new dimension playing on the left which is were we are weak as hell

very different however 30mill is alot cheaper than levy would want for bale i think gotze's wages would be lower too

Carlton Cole would be cheaper and his wages would be less than Gotze too, so we'll buy him instead shall we? He won't be what we need but he's cheap, makes perfect sense.

I understand what he would bring and he is a top player but I still just don't see how spending money on him would sort the problems we have in terms of squad depth. Even more so if the apparent rumours are true and we are shaving alot of players in Jan and the summer.
