Not an obsession. If he was classed as homegrown, then he could replace Bale in my random scenario and not affect the foreign spaces needed for defenders.

True, but in 2 years time, Zaha will be 28 and probably at a different club.

If we sold Sane for £100m and spent £20m for 2 years of Bale, that frees up a mega bid for Mbappe or whomever in 2 years.

It would give us options and mean any transfer ban was redundant as we'd have bought a further CB of our choosing.

Honestly it might not be the worst idea on the planet if sane were to go theres no value in the market right now so replacing sane would be very difficult without paying close to 150 mil for a winger that can do what he can do. Bale would give us a home grown option who im sure can play a few positions. The only problem is that madrid will accept a lone offer like the one your proposing there problem is that he is on 600 grand a week and they need to take that wage of the bill its not just because zidane hates him.

No one is going to pay him anywhere near close to what Madrid are paying him, so they are going to take a massive financial hit whatever they do with him.

  8. But for 3 times the wages.
And Bale is really a left back anyhow.

No but the main point is to get his wages out and a loan where they pay 500 grand wont work for them dont forget to sign anyone else they'll probably need to shift his wages not just a small fraction of that. I don't see anyone going for him and can see him staying there the season.

Given what they have said about him today, I can't see it. It'll be interesting to see how much of a financial hit they will take to make sure he's out the door.

And that's why I suggested trying a low ball loan offer. We get a potential match winner for a couple of seasons on the cheap if Sane were to leave.
