Garmin Sat Nav (map updates?)

As the owner of a Garmin Nuvi I looked in some depth at getting a "cheaper" map update, in a nutshell, there was nothing about that worked
I ended up paying £99 for the life time updates, not a probelm so long as the SatNav lasts a fair few years as its non transferable !
