garry cook's naiviety has cost us everything

bollox to most of you lot. i'ma blue and i'm allowed an opinion. he should have moved the meeting the truth hurts. its a major setback, if we lose robinho where is our "project" then ?

Well as good a footballer Robinho is, if he is such a sook that he leaves a training camp because we didn't manage to sign his world class mate or because we wouldn't let him go home for his birthday, then it has become evidently clear why Real were happy to let him go and why we should be as well. Scolari can have him if he is such a big sook if we can get something decent in return from them. Even if he was to go, our project will go on. To be honest I'm happy with our progress so far in this window. Bridge looks a good signing, Bellamy (While maybe not popular with many fans) will help to at least temporarily fill a void and De Jong (Who will probably sign in the next day or two) will be a very good piece of business as well. Get in a CB and maybe another Keeper and it will have been a very good January transfer window for us.

Just because we missed out on Kaka this time its not the end of the world. I fully believe that Milan are every bit to blame for the breakdown or whatever happened with the talks. Cook is no fool, no matter what you think of his rhetoric etc that he comes out with.

WATSS - we are all deflated, but the problem is your thread doesn't actually reflect your opinion.

Starting a thread that says "we have lost everything" (which is clearly nonsense), when in fact you really think that "it's a major setback" (which is much more sensible, if a bit OTT), was always going to get a reaction.

Having said that, of course you're entitled to let off steam, but then we should reflect on the fact that the clubs financial position is the envy of the world. And seeing as we all know that money talks in football, the future will be anything but dull, and probably include success in the next 3 years.

I'll take that.

After hearing GC on the radio this morning, I'm satisfied we did as much as we could have to get the player in. Personally I blame Milan for changing their minds, not City. We need to turn to other targets now. At least we didn't put all our eggs in one basket, or wait until midnight on the day the windows closes like in previous years, I had visions of us singing Marcus Bent at the last minute as our one and only signing in the window. Other deals are being negotiated, I'm sure. Maybe not as big as Kaka, but nothing else could be that huge. So, cheer up all, could be worse ;)

Do actually agree with a couple of your points.

Cook is now trying to window dress this back in his and City's favour - problem is, the horse has bolted.

Has now had his pants pulled down twice now by Milan and a man cleary out of his depth when negotiating at the top level of football.

As for Hughes, people are kidding themselves if they think the current manager didn't have any bearing whatsoever in Kaka's overall decision.

Just like Bellamy enthused about Hughes, another such as Kaka can have the right to think he isn't up to it and that our results so far provided him with further conviction his ultimate decision is a correct one.

Just seen Gary Cook on ssn and thought he came across well and very believable, every leak in this story has come from the Milan end do we believe him and our new owners who seem to be decent honourable people or Berlusconi for gods sake!!!

1. backing hughes so that when we enter the transfer window we are hovering above the transfer window = less chance of signing good players

2. agreeing to have the 2nd meeting at milan's hq - where thousands of their fans can congregate - why didnt he insist on moving it to a different location ? he isn't a football man and under-estimated the power of fan power

3. because we kept hughes on too long we have now had a major setback - any good players will now feel it acceptable to turn us down and the only players we will ever get are mercaneries like bellamy - not only that cook's blinkered backing of hughes has now cost us robinho - without kaka there is nothing for robinho to stay for

whilst the MEN will say there is no shame in failing to land a world star like kaka - that wa sthe whole point of our strategy and if our strategy doesnt work then we have no plan b

Cook naive and your not?
We can't dictate to the selling club where to negotiate for a member of their staff.

What a crock of shit.

"the only players we will ever get are mercaneries like bellamy - not only that cook's blinkered backing of hughes has now cost us robinho - without kaka there is nothing for robinho to stay for" QUOTE.

MATE, I'M NOT BEING FUNNY BUT ARE YOU ON CRACK?

ALSO - "we have no 'plan b'."
this IS city we're talking about. cookie will have a plan a - z.
cookie is way ahead of the game and will help make city the club we should be.
get off his fucking back. milan took the piss.

We were never in the driving seat in this deal so of course we went to them. Cooke's CV is mighty impressive and I trust him totally to represent City. Look at the transfers that are being concluded. Some deals just aren't meant to be and potential transfers that have got much further than this one did fall through all the time.

Too much obsessing and believing alll the media bullshit going on. Kaka is not bigger than Manchester City, and I don't want some prima dona Beckscum like persona swanning round our club in any case.
