If anything, based on what Crooks said he could call Dean a stickler for the rules. But that's pretty much what a ref needs to be. Players doing something stupid when on a booking already is down to them, not the ref.

Could have done with a ref applying the rules properly on Sunday, but that might have 'spoiled' the Premier League and Sky's title race.

I'm almost certain the officials were instructed to 'think of the product' when making any decisions, and if that's true then the game is gone.
