Garth Crooks' Team of the Week

It's pretty obvious, especially after this latest team of his, that crooks doesn't watch much football at all. He probably just runs down the scores to see who scored and who assisted, and makes the rest up to pander to the audience of largely red tops.

This absolute GEM from Garth:

"When Trent Alexander-Arnold is in this mood it is difficult to see why Gareth Southgate left him out of the England squad recently. The ball for Diogo Jota's first goal against a poor Arsenal was wonderful and the free-kick he delivered to Sadio Mane, which should have been converted, was even better.

Alexander-Arnold, like his team, has had a difficult season but I would have thought the young man would have done enough to warrant a place in the England squad if not in the team. I really hope it's nothing to do with petty club rivalries within the England camp. International teams win nothing with that nonsense going on."

Firstly, he was bang average. It was not a standout performance. Petty club rivalries on the other hand... WTAF?

He's been in poor form and didn't deserve selection for the internationals (in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if there had been some agreement between Klipperty and Southgate and this is just being hyped as a cover up). If Crooks doesn't understand this this he should be sacked. What is more likely is that he is just sh*t stirring, which is worse. And the fact the editor has allowed this drivel to be published tells you all you need to know about the current state of BBC Sport.

Trent Alexander has always been an average player, nothing more nothing less. Like many before him the hype always outweighs the substance. Although, in all fairness, he is only in his early twenties so it's possible he could improve greatly: not under Klopp, but under a better manager I believe he could be a prospect.

Haha Bendy Mendy scores and gets a spot.

He didn't play badly by any stretch but I'm not sure 3 seconds of brilliance makes him one of the 3 best defenders over the weekend.

The only thing worse than his team picks is the drivel he writes for his "Crooks of the Matter" section. This week Harry Kane would have to move abroad rather than to another Premiership team because the poor Spuds fans might cry.
As a fan when you support a mid-table team with a player that is too good for you then you need to swallow your pride, thank the player and let them pursue their dreams at a better club. We did that with SWP.
