There is a god Barry's gone!!!
Warren Gatland confirmed new Wales Rugby Union coach. The job he has on there is huge. Its crazy to think how Wales has fallen over the last few years. They hadsome amazing players for years but now it just seems the talent is no longer there or few and far between. When you compare Wales to the other 6 nations teams you could argue that the rest has better talent coming through.

Also rumours Eddie Jones is already gone. IF England had any sense they should try everything they can to get Andy Farrell from Ireland I be honest I wouldnt blame him if he wanted to manage England as the job he has done here has been top notch.

Surely there's no chance Farrell leaves Ireland this close to the World Cup? Afterwards, quite likely that England will come calling. Any idea when Farrell's contract is up?

I suppose the counter argument is that if Jones goes this week, it may be Farrell's only chance as the new guy might be a success.

Not sure on his contract lenght. I think England were linked with Ronan O Gara too. I think when Farrell goes Ireland have so many good coaches to choose from. Leo Cullen , O Gara and even Mark McCaul off the top of my head would all do very well with the talent we have here. I be sad to see Farrell go as the team has been fully committed to his style of play.

Surprised to see Gatland back although Pivac was never liked at this level.
The latter did well on a budget at the Scarlets tbf.
Wales are suffering imho due to too much rugby, a small squad of International standard players and a vacuum in quality youngsters.

Be interesting to see how this goes now for Wales because the 60 cap rule was Gatland's baby, but it has demonstrably failed. Their best players need to be playing at the top level and not in the regional shite presently existing in Wales.
Totally agree Uncle Wally.
The Regions are dire and this URC is a very poor product.
The Scarlets had six home games early doors (end of Oct)then go two months without a home game in the league due to Autumn Internationals then South Africa.
How on Earth can you build brand loyalty like that!!!!

Pivac did well for 1 year at Scarlets, 2018. He was absolutely shit the year before he went to Wales but the WRU had already given him the job by then.

They also refused Shaun Edwards a 4 year contract, so he left, then they gave his replacement Byron Hayward a 4 year deal (which was cancelled after 1 year becuase he was shite).

The biggest announcement today is that Gatland's moving upstairs after 2023. Rugby in Wales will never reach its potential until someone tackles the WRU leadership and he's got the personality and status to do it.

I do hope your last paragraph pans out.
Pivac had two good years at the Scarlets but you are right it turned to shite shortly after.

Gatlands time at Ireland was poor. Also at the times it was just starting to bubble away in Ireland with O Driscoll and O Connell and Gordon Darcy and few more all coming into the team. But you cant knock his time with Wales. This jobs going to be a huge job but is he going to get any young players into his set up and give them a chance. You can take finishing last in the 6 nations if your bringing in 10 new players. Use it as a way of getting a squad for the world cup. No point peaking a year before the World Cups like Ireland have done and do fuck all at it.You would rather be shit and do the best work on the biggest stage.

I predict they'll be terrible in the 6N at least to begin with.

Gatland will do his usual thing of sending them to some boot camp where they work out 3 times a day until they've vomited up every last ounce of fat and can run 4 minute miles in a cryochamber, but then return so knackered they can barely move for a few weeks.

Lose to Ireland, narrowly beat the Scots, then they'll look back to Gatland level for England, Italy, France.

After that Georgia game Welsh rugby means nothing to me ;-)
Gats must have one hell of a sense of humour or the WRFU are paying him a shed load.
