General transfer rumours

I’m sure I will. You’re right though, signing a half decent defensive midfielder, a very inconsistent non right back/non ce tre half and a total failure will put them right up there with the best team in Europe.
Thank you.

Doesn't Cole Palmer feature on your bench?

You sound like that City fan Buvey who reckons Rashford is worth 15m.

Yes, because we have a small compact squad. He fits what we need. Martinelli as far as I can see plays one position and he’s ok at it. LW. He would be behind Grealish and Foden.

I don’t rate Rashford, not much at all. He’s worth more than £15m but he’s not worth £375 a week. He’s very average.

The idea Martinelli is left out of the matchday squad for Cole Palmer is foreign to me on every level. Martinelli made the Brazil senior squad for the World Cup. Palmer hasn't even been capped for England yet.

As for Rashford being 'very average'. You probably would never make it as a football scout with this kind of assessments.

Yeah he's out to lunch. Martinelli and Rashford would be fantastic additions to our squad. They both have the highest quality ball striking ability that we could use. Especially now that Mahrez is leaving. Our wingers aren't very direct if we play Grealish/Bernardo.

Neither is Alvarez or Mahrez but they are natural goal scorers IMO. Silly for a City fan of all teams to say this as we also didn't have one when we won the league the season before Haaland came. Martinelli, Troassard, Havertz, Jesus, Saka, Odegaard, Nketiah and even ESR can put the ball in the net.
you are either a massive shithouse or an arsenal fan.

Nope definitely not an assnal fan mate. I just don't feel the need to underrate our competition. This Arsenal team is at the level of the City/Liverpool teams of recent years. No point hiding from it. They got a bit lucky to be up with us last season but they will be better. Whether the bounces go there way next season is another story. Hopefully not.

So you don't think Martinelli is a natural goal scorer? Ever watch him play football?

Lol

City are arguably the best team in the entire history of English football.

There is zero evidence to suggest Arsenal are at that same level.

This is an era where City got 100 points, won the domestic treble, won 3 titles in a row and won the treble.

They also haven’t even put in anything close to the level Liverpool showed with a league win, 99/97 point seasons and a CL.

To claim Arsenal are at that same level is absolutely obscene.

Don’t forget, Arsenal had a free run at the league last season also. Out of both cups early and played a changed XI in the Europa group stage.

they were on a crest of a wave last year,i expect the same this year, but they will have to contend with the champions league, not the europa league this season, not to mention the pressure of being one of the favourites, that is the same sort of pressure we saw at the end of last season when simply put they shit themselves, arsenal fans are up there as the biggest bunch of wankers going and we have seen them turn very quickly, and they will again when arteta realises you cant just copy pep you have to adapt, even pep adapts to pep, arteta has shown last season that he hasn't got it in him to change thing and his head goes very very quickly

The premier league is better next season than it was then. Doesn't mean our team is worse than the centurian team, but 90-93 points will be the equivalent of 100 then. I genuinely think City and Arsenal are ~90 point teams this coming season. And I agree, we are the best team in the entire history of English football.

I agree with what you're saying for the most part. I think they were lucky to ride the crest last year, but don't think they will require luck to be up with us this season. Rice is a good leader that should take some pressure off the squad.
Those that believe this may be in for a rude awakening come the run in of the upcoming season. We have a better XI which is why we'll have the edge in H2H one off matchups but it's not by a huge margin with the addition of Rice. They now have a bigger squad, will have played less games last season, and will be hungrier than ever after getting a taste of success. The only outgoings being deadwood. Incomings of Timber, Havertz, and Rice gives them three new unique profiles while bolstering depth. I feel as if we're in for a hell of a title race.
I still think we'll win the league but I'm saying it'll be a real battle. And I'm up for it. Bring it on, I'll always give Pep the edge.

Don’t rate Martinelli at all. That aside, my point being. Arsenal are miles behind everywhere on and off the pitch and it will be the same again.

As for Rashford, he’s very very average. As his performances and stats would suggest. He’s a top 6 squad man at best. He got 4 league goals the season before last. He had a purple patch for about 3 months last season then returned to type in the spring.

Jesus, you talk some shite. How is the Prem better next season? What can that possibly be based on?

Have you thought about it before commenting? No time in history has the premier league had as many good sides. City, Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Newcastle, Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham, Brighton, Villa, and even Brentford/Fulham are all capable of playing champions league level football. The money being spent by even the lower tier of these teams is unlike any period ever. This is so clear to see. You are clearly oblivious to the outside world.

I've read some daft things on here, but sweet Christ... The squad that just won the treble and dominated football like no other team in history has a "very small gap, if any" with the serial bottlers who couldn't even beat Sporting Lisbon?

Last season was a one off for Arsenal. If anyone, it's Liverpool and Chelsea that'll run us close next season. Not a team that spent 60 million quid on waste of space Havertz.
The difference between the very best and the other top teams isn't always that large.

Yes, we are better, but Arsenal were close in the league and they've improved. I think Champa league will reduce their early season energy and there is no way they go on a 50 point start to the season. Also, Liverpool and United will be better. And Chelsea Brighton and Newcastle won't be walkovers for anyone. So you expect they'll start our slower and closer to the pack this time

I don't know how they'll deal with that. I'm not as confident of us winning the league this season.

But I'm most worried with Liverpool and Chelsea. Top teams who are not in Champa league have a significant advantage. Arsenal had it last season, and I expect Liverpool and a Pochetinno Chelsea to have the same.

Besides, every time a team won the Premier league 3 times in a row, Chelsea always win the year after. So their is history to break here...

Can't wait for the season to kick off...

Oh, please get Randall Kolo Muani to come play RW please!!!!!

So? You can predict the future. Liverpool are far worse now than 3/4 years ago. As are Chelsea. United the same shambles they’ve been for ages.
West Ham barely stayed up, Arsenal aren’t very good.

Brighton are a good side. As were Spurs 4 years ago.

How many teams in this ‘better season’ next season will get 90+ points? My bet, maybe City..

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and even United went out of Europe last season with a whimper.
We can only judge on what we know.

You realize its harder to get 90+ points when the PL is more competitive right? Not vice-versa like you're stating.

More points by the top team does not equal a better PL standard. Even the best premier league team of all time (which I believe we currently employ) will be lucky to get 90 this season. Last season we got 89.

Answer this. What teams have got worse in the top 12?

Last season we got 89 points. Tossed away the last 2 games of the season and not long after the WC Pep had tossed the league in. We were really quite poor till mid Feb.

Loads of teams getting early 80’s points doesn’t mean much, other than they aren’t winning enough games for the league. City needing 98 points to win a tithe, winning 15/16 games in a row is the most difficult way to win a title. Not because Villa have signed Pau Torres or Newcastle have signed Harvey Barns.

There is nothing to indicate next season will be any tougher to win, but I’m betting the team in 2nd don’t get 95+ points and whoever wins won’t need to go near perfect in 2024 to win the league.
