General Videogame Thread

VR will take off if the premier league and the football clubs get involved. Watching your team sat in a virtual reality box with all the atmosphere sounds pinging through your VR. Long way of yet but I feel that gaming won’t be the one the kicks it on.
It will take off if they make a star wars game, it would sell shit loads if they did it right, I had a go on one last year with a lightsaber it was awesome I was bouncing off the walls funny as hell but totally forgot where I was.

Yes if it makes significant numbers people sick or gives them headaches then that will undoubtedly do for it. I'm just going on my instincts really. When I first tried Kinect etc I just thought it was wank and that it probably wouldn't be the future of games in the way some predicted. When I have tried VR stuff on the very odd occasion I have thought this could be awesome and the future of gaming if they suss it out properly to just make all games that bit more immersive and at an affordable price.

My ps4 vr has sat unused from month 2 of owning it due to the motion sickness. A big stumbling block that will tackle it is to make a affordable consumer unit cordless. all that turning and moving whilst sitting down fucked me up where I was nauseous for hrs afterwards playing for a relatively short time.

It will probably end up in the bedroom to watch movies on :)

Is there any way to stop that? I played on an oculus rift headset last year, and though not quite to your level it definitely made me feel queezy after 10/15 minutes. I could imagine people who suffer from motion sickness getting it bad.

I hear a desk fan works, somehow convinces your brain you are moving i think

Haha no but that is class. I was stood on a skyscraper in Manhattan looking over the edge and it made me step back in my front room totally scared.

I think there's like a bubble in your ear (like a spirit level) which determine your balance, I think what you see visually, has an effect on it. I had one on a rollercoaster was stood on the spot and ended up stumbling backwards, luckily enough my mate was there to make sure I didn't wipe everyone out.

New Mario is getting phenomenally good scores everywhere. Nintendo are back big time and it's great. My copy turned up early. Gonna dive into it tonight.

Is that on the switch? Im so tempted for this and in particularly Zelda, but at £280 still i just cant justify it to the wife when i have a ps4 sat there.

Anyone excited for the new call of duty? Back to its roots, the story will be good and multiplayer should be good crack.

Zelda isn’t that great IMO, it’s good, but nowhere near as good as OOT or Majoras Mask. Buying Super Mario tomorrow, can’t wait.
Seems to be a game thats really split opinon, some people really disapointed, but then others who really loved it. Anything that gets even close to OOT in my book is worth playing. Maybe my boy needs a suprise xmas present, wooooops.

it does look good. the problem with nintendo for me is the lack of good games. its mainly just zelda, mario and maybe bayonetta that i think are any good.

As a man who has been playing Zelda games for literally 20 years I fucking loved BOTW. Was genuinely sad when it ended and sank 130 hours into it. OoT hasn't aged well at all and i once called that my favourite game ever.

Nintendo does amazing games well that just *feel* different to anyone else, that's why I love them. Since I've had my Switch i've played Zelda (which took me literally 3 months to finish), Sonic Mania, Splatoon 2, Mario Rabbids (Genuinely highly enjoyable - surprised me how much i got into it), Mario Kart, Snipper Clips and now i've got the third Mario game on this console haha. I'll also be getting Doom, Yooka-Laylee when it comes out, Skyrim (never played it), LA Noire (same again) and whatever else ends up on this.

The best thing about the Switch is the console itself. It's unbelievably likeable. 7 out of 10 games feel like an 8 at least cos of how portable they become. It feels like a new experience. I sit there on the bus in the morning playing a Zelda or Mario game. It's a bizarre but brilliant feeling. I literally take it everywhere with me at all times. Playing high end games like that on the go is a surreal experience. There's so far been a very good, very big game every other month and more and more developers are getting on board due to the success its had so far.

I've got a PS4 for your more high fidelity games like Uncharted, GTAs or whatever, and the Switch is this amazing companion that works perfectly doing its own thing without trying to compete.

I got my switch out at work the other day and we played Mario Kart sat in the work canteen. How fucking mint is that?
