I jumped the gun...Not necessarily. He was loaned until 9th Jan. This could be his last game so we'll know very soon.

A new contract should be a no-brainer.
This Weigl kid people are talking about in the transfer thread was a german div 2 player last season. Nobody knew about him and he went for a measly £1.8 million, that's less than Huws.
There's no guarantees that Evans can do the same obviously, but the club needs to give players like him the chance for the first team or players like Weigl will be missed.
I agree with you in principle, but I think this Weigl signing is so obviously a Guardiola thing it's just above and beyond any general club policy, and obviously Pep has seen something he likes a lot.
There will be chances for the likes of Evans under Guardiola. We know that from his history of giving loads of La Masia kids chances even if they never held down a place in the squad.
Here's a list of the 22 players he gave Debuts to in 4 seasons at Barca -
2008/09: Busquets, Thiago, Xavi Torres, Muniesa, Botía and Abraham
2009/10: Fontàs, Dos Santos, Soriano, Gai Assulin and Bartra
2010/11: Oriol Romeu, Sergi Gómez, Miño, Nolito, Montoya and Sergi Roberto
2011/12: Cuenca, Deulofeu, Rafinha, Tello and Riverola
I bolded the ones who failed at Barcelona - 17/22.
And that's not including half a dozen players that were given debuts just before Guardiola arrived, like Oier, Jeffren, Victor Sanchez who Pep gave 10_ games to before moving on.
So I'm sure that Evans will get his chance, even if he doesn't turn out to be good enough for us, he will still get his opportunity, which is all any young player can ask for.
And for now, his loan can only do him good.

This highlights completely what some of us have been saying. That giving kids a shot doesn't equal failure or danger & nor do they have to be confirmed worldbeaters to be useful short term.
I thought Bojan started under Pep ?
No Bojan and Pedro were given debut's by Rijkaard. Bojan actually played 40+ games in his first season at 17 years old.
I knew he'd played a lot but I assumed he started under Pep. I was surprised to see he'd played 100+ games for Barca.
And now he's in Stoke. I bet that wasn't amongst his dreams for the future, when he came on for Messi.
Brentford apparentlyRecalled by City, another Loan lined up?
