George Evans

But they only extended his emergency loan on Tuesday, for another 2 weeks.

So surely Vieira either knew he wanted him or not before Tuesday, or could wait a fortnight for him to finish his loan...

You could be right, but the way I was looking at it is maybe it's not a coincidence that New York City want a new young midfielder, it was the MLS draft yesterday, they didn't get one, and today George Evans was recalled.

I'm just speculating, but the timing seems to be more than a coincidence to me.

Think we handled this really badly.

Evans is a pretty key player at Walsall and as other have mentioned he's out of contract at the end of the year, and Brentford have been sniffing around him. He was classified as being on an emergency loan to Walsall and 4 days ago we allowed them to extend that loan until the 29th in order to cover a run of games.

Then we recall him on the day of a game and leave them short

Got a really bad feeling this is the precursor to a permanent move somewhere sadly...

i agree, can't really blame him though. Sit on the bench here, maybe the odd cup game or go and play first team football at a good level. i think he's good enough for us swell

I can't see the logic in this at all. He was playing a key role in the Walsall promotion bid, and suddenly gets recalled. Reading the other comments here it must be to play at New York, but judging by the Angelino experience I am not convinced that George wouldn't be better off staying at Walsall.

Really hope it's not a permanent move. He was sat in among the Walsall fans today so it was a really last minute decision, perhaps one in which he didn't have the full say (which would perhaps point at a permanent move).

If it's permanent I won't be able to disguise the fact that I'll be quite bitter regarding the lack of clear chances he's had with the first team. He's done everything that has been asked of him so far...

Maybe it's because of a development in the first team, 2 games in a week for Fernando could have been him being put in the shop window.

But more likely it's just him playing because he's fit and Fernandinho isnt.
