I personally have Evans ahead of Glendon. Glendon's a nice footballer but I'm not sure he's much more than that. Evans is a goal scoring threat, better defensively and a much bigger physical specimen.
Me also, and by some margin,Glendon will make a living in the lower leagues but he really doesnt have the extra quality and physicality that evans has.

You never truly know if they are good enough until you give them a chance. I would imagine that 9 out of 10 of our youngsters are good enough to play now and again even as a minimum squad member.

Gone are the days of getting in the first team at 18/19, it's now more like 22/23, I would have thought Evans would have been given another year and some chances to really see it he could be a squad player.

Just Glendon left now, he's signed two contracts in the last year I think so I imagine he is contracted till 2017 which would make him 22?

I agree with that. I think the route to the first team is a couple of stela years with the EDS followed by at least a season’s worth of senior football on loan. After all of that you need to be a real standout prospect at every level you have played and you need an opening in the squad at the right time. Age 19 – 21 I would think before you would get a sniff of regular football. Denayer is the benchmark. Nacho is the exception but he was brought in as an oven ready striker to play third choice – if strikers were more widely available it would not have surprised me to see him on loan this year.

The opening in the squad is a key factor, I think Huws / Lopes were not far of the grade although there was just too much in front of them and the club would be daft to turn down the money if they know there is little chance of a breakthrough. Nacho has that opportunity but I don’t think it is there for a midfielder as we have senior players there not getting the minutes. Evans will hopefully get a loan through to the summer and then it’s all up for grabs for next year.

Do people think Evans is as good as Stones? Not positionally, but in terms of getting a chance to show what he can do. The EDS lads seem to have a bloody great queue in front of them.

Not as good as Stones by a long way but no doubt good enough to play championship football. Probably wouldn't be totally out of place in our squad but only as a squad player and no chance of being picked before all the midfield names have.

He would have to extend his contract before this could happen.

It would be a really interesting development because he was pulled out of his loan at Walsall at the last minute for "talks".

If he's not getting loaned out, I wonder what those talks were about? Giving him the option to take a permanent move or to go on loan and try and fight for a place?

the thing is no one will know unless he gets a chance. Lots of young players tend to raise their game or improve surrounded by better players. i think he is good enough to be a squad player

His contract is up in the summer so if not permanent no point loaning him. Plus I thought you could only play for 2 clubs in a season?

Well obviously if he's not being sold he'd be getting a contract extension.
