If it's a loan deal it's brilliant, if it's a sale, it's absolutely fucking dreadful news.

It isn't really, is it?

Great lad, good player. Wish him all the best in his career, it's a good move for him as he's going nowhere here.

People need to realise part of an academy isn't just developing players for the first team, it's developing players. If they go on and have a successful career elsewhere then we've done our job.

George is a talented player, who may even sustain himself as a premier league player in time, but he's just a bit below the standard of our first team for now and in future years.

At the end of the day, are Barca, Madrid, Bayern looking at him like they (and we) are looking at other prospects around the world at his age and younger? No, Brentford and Reading are, there's a reason for that. Not being harsh on the lad but that's the reality and why it isn't dreadful news for City.

City fans really need to chill when academy graduates move on. Jesus, remember the outrage on here when we sold Stephen Elliot!? He was billed the 2nd coming of Christ and then we flogged him, this place was in meltdown, for the same reasons people are disappointed George is moving on.

George won't become a Stephen Elliot, but might become a Keiran Trippier. Having met the lad, he's a great kid and I'm really sad he hasn't made it into our first team, but he deserves to be playing first team football. Good luck to him.

It will draw the obvious "but he's better than Fernando", the club think different and that's all there is to it.

All the best George.

Well I only started watching football last week, so thanks for the lecture. I never realise kids could be sold on, I just thought we kept them all until they were 45. And of course unless Barca or Real Madrid come in for kids, they are all shit, I mean they were both busting their balls to sign Harry Kane, Sterling, Deli Ali two years ago so that proves it doesn't it ? They know fucking everything.

And what would be the point of keeping a kid who might not be good enough to play for Real Madrid when we can go out & spend 15 mil on Jack Rodwell or 5 mil on Scott Sinclair ? No that's right, everyone who gets a game at City is world class.

Now i know what to look out for in the future, as all young players are exactly the same & of course I'm the kind of fucking moron who wouldn't know the difference between George Elliot & Lionel Messi, so cheers for educating me.

At times you really can be a know all, condescending wanker.

No need to thank me, but it's my pleasure.

I'll even add to your education this afternoon - if you post dramatic nonsense, be prepared for a response that you may not like.

Though I did like your decision to try and enforce your 'point', to reference signings we made under different economic times at the club under a different Director of Football and a different Manager.

I agree though. Maybe all the top clubs are wrong, including City. In fact, even City's academy staff that have watched and worked with him every day of his career at City are wrong too. You're right though, and Reading.

Utterly dreadful news.

If true sad to see him go, though that admittedly is because he's been with us since he was a Kid, bleeds blue rather than being his footballing prowess. I do think he 'could' become a squad player for us- giving his all against bottom half teams and cup matches which is a valuable contribution (and where many teams ourselves included have lost titles) but its a big maybe, wouldn't blame the club moving him on if they think we have better coming through the system.

So yes, sad if true but more because of what he represented than himself as a footballer.

Very disappointing if indeed it is a permanent deal.Im not sure what the academy kids have to do to get a genuine opportunity here.

I liked George Evans but I honestly don't think he is ready to play in the premier league yet, never mind a team with their eye on trophies.
I know people will say 'how do we know unless they get a chance,' but he will have faced the likes of Fernando, Fernandinho, Toure etc... in training.
At 21 Evans needs to making a career for himself.
If he's the outstanding player in the Championship then he'll get his move to the Prem, and I'd be thrilled. But the truth is I think he's a little way off.
