Next BLM target?
Next BLM target?
Its all Cummings fault. Piers Morgan says so because he drove to Durham.
Just as they follow everything else he says and does.
Next BLM target?
The police will have been told not to strike out. By the time they ran they were in survival mode. They weren’t equipped for the job and we’re let down by their leaders.
So just because Cummings broke the rules so should everyone else? What sense does that make? Surely protesting in a group of thousands of people will put out t risk more than Cummings did?
Sort of a 'dominic Cummings broke the rules, in response I'm going to put my life at risk, that'll teach 'em' sort of thing.
And certain they will be the ones moaning loudest about 'why is it taking so long for me to be treated here... is it cos I'd black'... at hospital.
The reputation of our police force was damaged in many eyes during the 80s when maggie turned them into a heartless force used to impose her will.
The 81 and 85 riots, Orgreave, wapping, hilsborough poll tax riots etc.
Add to that society has changed, I remember being respectful and fearful of police on the beat, and you would see PCs down our street every other day and even on horseback at times but you never see any hardly round my way unless it's the helicopter or cars speedingthrough and if you call them for crimes seemed small you get a crime number and probably never hear back, let lone a visit. And all the local stations are now closed
For example tge otger tear I was assaulted in town and went to the police to report it, the reply I got was "were you badly injured" answer no so it was sugested no harm dine then
"did you hit them back"? Yes well then you could be also done for assault
"Is it worth months of court time if we could even find them"
Basically it wasn't deemed worth the while to look into it.
This lack of local visible community policing and lack of time and resources to look into all crimes I believe has made them more distant and less repsected, and that is not their fault but a failiure of successive home office policies.
I no longer recognise the country I grew up in. David Lammy says ‘things have got to change” - I have no idea what he is proposing but it will no doubt mean the likes of me becoming even more marginalised in the country I was born.
Watching that scrote trying to set fire to the flag at the Cenotaph on the news this morning actually brought a tear to my eye, I don’t mind admitting.
If that is the type of country the likes of Lammy and Burgon are proposing, they are welcome to it. I’ll continue to self isolate so I don’t have to cross the path of the ignorant and stupid (and yes, the racists).
Coppers running away is never a good look
Damned if we do, damned if we don't. Retreat is perfectly acceptable.Coppers running away is never a good look
I wasn’t saying it wasn’t true and I am very much aware of the government paying slave owners off to free slaves but I just wasn’t sure on the number of families around today who have direct wealth still.
The reparations argument is a terrible one in my opinion. No one alive today did it and no one alive today was a slave (well that’s ignoring modern slavery but it’s a different topic). Once you make the argument for one thing, you can go on to many more. Maybe Germany should be paying the rest of Europe for the war etc.
I’m also not in favour of illegally taking money off people due to laws 200-300 years ago being immoral, they were still laws and were then changed, an agreement took place and it’s been fulfilled. Generally speaking, we still give a lot of aid to former colonies anyway.
History is important but regarding the race issue, I really think we need to look at the here and now and then focus on making things equal for the future.
Statues are a symbol, usually of power and State power at that. It’s why they are put up in the first place. In a protest some of these symbols will be targeted. Some rightly, others not.
But the attacks on then does provoke debate as to who they were, what they did and why they are there.
Retreat, yes, legging it like a Benny Hill sketch, noDamned if we do, damned if we don't. Retreat is perfectly acceptable.
But they were equipped with normal PPE. Asp, cuffs, spray, vests. That'll be the fault of the commanding officers sending out his team ill prepared.
Police get scared too. Put yourself in their position. What would have happened if one officer had become isolated?Retreat, yes, legging it like a Benny Hill sketch, no
