In this country, is this not a class thing more than it is a race thing?
.
Its always about class in the UK, always has been. This whole episode is about class.
That's why the capitalist class are so keen to divide the working class with their idiotic references to ANTIFA, they are designed to fracture the working class. There is a recession hitting now and a scapegoat is needed, what better excuse is there to now divide and fragment the working class over this BLM issue. You get the right blaming middle class students as being wreckers and vandals, that pits the middle class against the working class and vice versa. In the end the scapegoating will be put on the working class as per normal who will pay the price for capitalist excess. Austerity doesn't hit the capitalist class, it hits the working class and if they are divided by issues like statues then they are less likely to form a cohesive defence against the imposition on the austerity designed to protect the capitalist class.
Thatcher knew this, her attacks on Union power were not about destroying the Unions, it was about destroying working class solidarity which meant she could impose her neo-liberalism without a cohesive opposition to it. Immigration is used now to divide the working class, again it pits working class people against each other so the capitalist class can enjoy greater wealth.
It is always about class, race, immigration, unions, whatever can be, are all used to divide people who have more in common than what sets them apart and what they have in common is class.
