It REALLY pisses me off this softly softly actually doing fuck all approach adopted by British police forces. When I see utter wankers rioting, setting fire to shops, looting Currys etc - as per the Tottenham riots - and the police just watch. I want them to uphold the bloody law and if force is needed to stop these cunts then fucking well use it in whatever measure necessary. Water cannon, rubber bullets, tear gas, the lot. I'd welcome it.

I bloody love this country! I think we live in a fantastic nation. Most of the country are normal decent people. Great Britain is the most culturally diverse and accepting country in the world. More languages are spoken in Manchester than are in London or New York and, really, how often does this lead to any trouble at all in our city?

Great Britain has a fantastic interesting history and history of culture that has lead to brilliant cities and people creating brilliant things that affect us all positively every day. We have a fantastic and interesting contemporary culture of sport, music, art, literature and food+drink.

I’m not saying every citizen is great. There are total fucking idiots on the extremes: the fun sponges who take everything seriously, who are offended by everything, who seek out offence, who are shamed to be British for no real reason, who hate the country and who want to shame other people who don’t think the same as them; and at the other end of the scale those who hold bigoted prejudices for no real reason, who hold views about people who aren’t like them as inferior, with arguments with no base in fact and views that belong in the bunker with Hitler and his crew at the end of WW2...

Both of these extremes are just sad cunts who live their lives full of anger with blinkers on. In a way, I feel sorry for them, their lives must be so shit being so angry about everything all the time. In other ways I just want them to go away, but these people are very much minorities. They catch the headlines because they aren’t the norm. While the rest of the nation has to watch on at these cunts who take up too many headlines, our day-to-day lives are not really affected by them because we don’t associate with them. And really it’s good that they exist to show all of us normal people how pathetic they all are. They can have a voice, we can listen to them and then it’s up to us to decide whether to laugh at or ignore their idiocy or counter-debate their stance with our stance based in normality.

But I’d recommend switching the News off for a few weeks (I said the same to those who were starting to struggle mentally with Covid). In fact turn off the tele and get off social media, full stop. Listen to some music, go out and spend time in your local community or the city centre with people (when lockdown ends haha!). You’ll start to realise that 95% of people are just straight-up decent people and that across most of society there are very few divisions or hatred. And that music and conversation is better for us than television and social media - I think social media is very dangerous! It makes things up, makes us think things that aren’t there actually are, stirs up trouble, overemphasises issues that don’t need to be given so much importance, and makes people too interested in the USA.

Even looking at the government and the Police in this country, apart from with a few stats like stop and search, no ethnicity is targeted or treated any differently than any other ethnicity. Social classes are, but not really ethnicities on the whole.

While immigrants do tend to live in more inner-city areas here, they live in multicultural areas with white people in abundance. In many other countries, different ethnicities are segregated into their own areas which are purposely not invested in and lives made purposely tough and people from certain post codes not being able to get jobs. That doesn’t really happen here, and when it has done, it’s been done to white working class areas (Thatcher with the Northern England and Wales industry closures), rather than to those of ethnic minorities. Almost all of the most deprived areas in the country are white areas; domestic violence is worse in these white deprived areas than any other areas; white boys from deprived areas truant school the most, get the worst exam results, are the least likely demographic to go to university, are the most likely to be unemployed or homeless.

We’ve still got a way to go to, to really get to where we should be. I’m not saying there isn’t racism, isn’t ethnic targeting from Police in any way or that all aspects of society are equal for everyone in every way. But compared to most of the rest of the world we are light years ahead.

I keep saying this, but one thing we need to do is get our noses out of America’s business all the time. Their shithole of a country is in every facet of our lives. Every time we pick up our phones or turn on the tele, the USA pops up within 10 minutes, easily, if not sooner. Over there things are shocking, but too many people here conflate that to what going on here. I think that’s unhealthy!

Can't we just let all the far left and far right people fuck off onto some island to fight it out and let the vast majority of us who are somewhere in the middle just act like adults instead? I reckon America would take them, they seem to love far right and far left types, they'd fit right in

The problem is that far left don't see themselves as far left and the far right don't see themselves as far right, both twisted both indistinguishable from one another.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but fear there is also a danger in outlawing protest (a form of free speech). Sensible middle ground seems to be social distancing at protests? If that's not happening, then I'm with you on breaking them up.
