Looking to visit one German city for the Christmas market as well as take in a Bundesliga game and a bit of sightseeing.

Any recommendations for a Christmas market?

Berlin looks obvious but potentially pricey - any suggestions?

And no, I'm not going to do any further negotiation with KdB whilst I'm over there.

Thanks in advance.

Wait to Thursday
Stopped in Dusseldorf the night before we played dortmund and it was excellent then train (free with match ticket) to dortmund and theirs was even better

Mainz or frankfurt are both good. Both close to each other and both have football teams so could do both. My preference would be Mainz for the Christmas Market as you also have the the cathedral and guttenburg museum in the same area, which is nice if you get fed up with stuffing your face. Wiesbaden is near both places above and my kids loved that market because of the puppet show.

Fecking Hell OP I have four under 18 yr old lads in my house.....Xmas posts in August you have just brought me into a massive depression thinking about it.

Sorry mate.

I'll buy you a hot dog whilst I'm out there.

Try charlottenberg in Berlin. Last time I was there I picked up done wonderful Thai produce as well as the usual German beer.

don't go to fucking Wolfsburg Christmas Markets whatever you do - if you try and buy something the stallholders string you along putting the price up during the haggle and then eventually they'll say 'fuck off you're not having it'
