Germany next to ban the burqa?

Angela Merkel has called for a burka ban after saying the 'full veil is not appropriate' in Germany, it has emerged.

In an astonishing U-turn, the German chancellor told her conservative CDU party conference that wearing the burka should be outlawed 'wherever that is legally possible'.

It comes after the 62-year-old stressed her determination to ensure there is no repeat of last year's huge migrant influx as she seeks a fourth term as chancellor.

Anyone else think that France, Holland and Germany are missing the point here at a bit?

They have an election coming up relatively soon and I think she's jumping on the populist "ban it/build it" bandwagon.

Merkels attempt at trying to win over some of the opposition voters, she knows she could be in trouble.

A shameless bit of window dressing.
It's the establishment who feel that they're entitled to be in power and either take the electorate for granted and patronise them that's pissing people off.
I hope the Germans tell her to stuff her meely mouthed, empty gesture up her arse.

My issue is not whether the burqua should be banned, I don't have a problem with that, but with those people who want to bring in Sharia law into a country where it doesn't exist yet funnily enough they don't want to live in a country where it already does exist. Can anyone tell me why that is the case?

A cracking quote from social media yesterday:

'In some countries women are punished for not wearing the burqa.

In others women are set to be punished for wearing the burqa.

It's almost as if the problem isn't women'.
