Geronimo Rulli

So we bought him for 4m

Loan him straight back to the club he is already at

Sell him in January to the club he is on loan to for how much ...

Buy him back for £14 in 2018 if we like the look of him

Are we making a very big profit from this sale to make it worthwhile ?

Sociedad Can buy him for £8 mil

Seems to me we are in effect paying them to train our keeper in a top league.

If it works, we pay them some more & take him. If it doesn't they can do what they like with him.
If it doesn't I think we still have a 30% sell on clause so it's a no lose deal.

UEFA doesn't tend to like 'creative' though as it confuses them. Happily they can't stop this one but I wouldn't be surprised if they're thinking up new rules as we speak.

David Gill is probably snorting cocaine (allegedly!)and dreaming up a findish plot as I type....

So we've currently spent £4m on him.

Sociedad will buy him for £8m

Then we can buy for £14m, while everyone else would have to pay his £35m buyout clause.

So we've basically put ourselves in the situation where either we've made £4m off flipping him to Socideda (Once sociedad pay us for his permanent transfer) OR we've got the option to get a goalkeeper (presumably worth much, much more) for £10m.

It's great business, if a little confusing as to how we ended up part owning him in the first place.

Everyone here is reporting it differently but I think I read somewhere we paid 6mil and are selling him to sociedad for 4mil in January. Sociedad where unwilling to match our offer and rulli was unsure about joining us as he wanted as much game time as possible, so this made the most sense as long as he is sold for at least 6mil we wont lose anything and if he continues to develop we can get a great keeper for a low price.

Think we will buy a new keeper this window, get rid of Caballero. Have New Keeper and Hart as GK's. Most likely new keeper (Bravo/ter Stegen) will be number one.

Then sell Hart next summer and bring Rulli as number 2.

Do you think England's #1 keeper will be happy sat on the bench for most of the season and retain his England shirt? I genuinely believe if Joe is displaced as our #1, then Joe would push for a move. There would be plenty of takers.

Plenty of takers? Name a few?

Then get rid of the ones who can't pay his massive wages.

You're left with Everton maybe, if they fancy splashing out.

Why have you narrowed it down to just UK teams? That said, I think more than Everton would come in for him if he made himself avail.

Other than Gareth Bale, name a very good British player in a foreign league?

That's why I think he'd stay in the uk. Plus he's have to take a 50% pay cut and they probably wouldn't pay our asking price anyway.

Arsenal - No
United - No
Chelsea - No
Spurs - No
Leicester - No
Liverpool - No, Klopp just bought Karius
Everton - maybe
Southanpton - No
Stoke - No

So that's the top half of the league, and only 1 would be a genuinely plausible destination.

I'm missing your point re Bale. If your a genuine top class player on the market, you will be wanted either here or abroad.

No probs, we disagree. Hopefully hypothetical anyways

The point is pretty clear - I don't think he'll
Move abroad because British players don't move abroad. They don't like moving, they don't get paid as much, and their lower technical ability is more apparent.
