I played for the same team growing up as two current pro footballers. One is an England international and premiership name, the other is a good goalscorer at championship/league one level. I remember from the age of 8-10 there was another kid in our league who played for Flixton who was amazing, people used to turn up to watch this kid play and although the current pro's in our team were good, even they looked average against this kid. When utd signed him they (ill advisedly I know) called him the new Ryan Giggs/George Best. By the time he was 15 utd let him go and he has not kicked a ball since (other than work 5 a sides) while my two team mates have gone on to make a good living from the game. Often the kids at 6-10 who look stars are not come 15/16....anyone remember sonny pike?
