Hey

Never done it before but I thought it would be fun and I´d want to put just a tenner on City winning this weekend. So what sites are best? If you win do you get 100% of your winnings or do you have to pay any taxes/fees etc?

Sorry but I´m completely new to this.

You'll get 100% of your winners. Open an account on Skybet and there will be an option within skybet to put in a promo code which will give you a free £5 bet. All you do is go into the promo code option and enter APRIL. I will have a look later and post a bit more clearly as i can't get on Skybet at the moment but basically if you bet a fiver and use the promo code you'll get a free £5 to bet with aswell

Sky bet odds dont seem that good though compared to some sites.

Another thing is that im using euros so wouldnt i lose a tiny bit when using british sites. Not that it matters that much.
 
I don't know how much you know so I'll start from the top (I work at William Hill so I have to explain this all the time lol)

On Saturday we are 6/4 to win with Ladbrokes. This means if you put £4 on you will get £6 back in profit, and the original £4 you put on, so £10 in total. If you put £10 on us at 6/4 you will get £25 back (£15 profit, and the original £10 you put on).

To work out your returns its pretty simple. You Just add the two numbers together, so if its 6/4 you do 6+4=10. Then times the 10 by however much you want to put on (in your case £10), so 10x10=100. Then divide this number by the SECOND number of the odds (so if its 6/4, divide it by 4) so 100 divided by 4 = 25.....so you'd win £25!

As for where to bet, doing it online usually get you better prices. I did an accumuator in a shop a few weeks ago which returned me £60, if i had done it online I would have got £90! Pretty much every website has offers of free bets when you open an account, so look about for the best one! But I use Ladbrokes because a) they have an iphone app, b) their site is really easy to navigate and c) their minimum deposit is £5, most others are £10.

If you put £10 on Man City to win @ 17/10, You will only get back £27. Your best bet would probably be Tevez to score first 5/1, You would get £60 back.
 
First of all bookmark http://www.oddschecker.com which will show you the odds on offer from all the mainstream bookies.

For the derby this weekend we are best priced at 2.88 with Skybet which would return £28.80 for your £10 stake.

You can get better odds of 2.94 with Betfair but they deduct 5% commission on your winnings so would actually only return £28.43 after this is taken into account. This is unusual - Betfair is usually the best place to bet on football match odds.

BUT... AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT...

If you haven't opened any online betting accounts yet then the world is your oyster because you can take advantage of all the free bet offers for opening a new account. Don't waste them - you only get them once.

If you are going to open a Skybet account the free bet offer you get depends on how you sign up. Currently the best deal you can get with Skybet is a matched £30 free bet by clicking on the link you will find at http://www.football365.com/ If you're not prepared to risk £30 you can just deposit £10 and they'll match that with a £10 free bet.
