Giddy signings

The Messi saga was one of the most exciting things I've ever gone through with City even if the end result sucked.

I was drunk in a Walkabout when I found we had signed Robinho and none of my friends believed me at the time

Trevor Francis was another, incredibly exciting signing, incredible debut (York away eat your heart out), top of the league on Boxing Day that season, then downhill after.

The realisation of utter doom and gloom when he left.
Genuine quality player, felt like it was really falling into place when we bought him. The previous season we'd unluckily lost the Cup Final and I thought 'this is it, with him up front we'll start winning things again!'(though unfortunately we did sign Martin O'Neill to balance things out).
Didn't quite work out did it!? We was a genuine quality player, but frequently injured. From memory ,if he wasn't in the team I seem to remember thinking that we'd never win as we relied on him a fair bit!
Francis ofcourse left after a season, and we got David Cross and Chris Jones....the rest is history isn't it!

He was a magnificent player but as you rightly say, always injured, but when fit was superb, his debut one of the finest for any player in our history.

I was thrilled when we signed Denis Law from Huddersfield in 1960, but he wasted the best of his career on another English team, I believe

I thought Bony was gonna score a bagful of goals that would carry us to winning the CL

Turns out when he wasn’t injured he was bloody hopeless

When he made his second debut for us in a pre-season friendly in Aberdeen, we said we'll never accept him back until he scored at Old Toilet.
He didn't let us down. (Always good to post this again)

Several people have mentioned Francis. He came to us with an enormous reputation. I was fairly giddy. Most have been covered by other posts. I was at Wembley, as it happens, to see Tueart against Leeds. I knew we'd signed a good ’un.
Book tried very hard to get Liam Brady, but Arsenal just weren't having it. An incredibly skilled midfielder, one of the best of his generation. I would have been inebriate, and I believe it just might have made a lot of things click in the team.

As for the OP. I'd say the signing of Haaland is just about as important as winning the league this year.
Now let's get that other guy, the Bald Fraud, (re)signed, and my cup will runneth over.

Oh and how about people on this forum actually spelling the name of our Viking right? Double aa. Not Haland. Not Harland. It's not fucking rocket science! I grew tired of seeing Aquero, and I saw that right to the end on here from time to time.
(Ok, if you want to show off you could write it Håland…)
