Girona - Post match Thread

Yeah Danilo and Sane couldn't get involved much in the first half because we couldn't retain possession well enough in the midfield so they couldn't push up. It was probably due to us playing two youngsters there. They had to rely on counters.
Second half they both improved as we took control.

Yeah that sounds about right, the drop-off in quality when De Bruyne and Silva aren't playing is pretty apparent.
Big shoes to fill for young Phil.

Confirmed it was a great decision. Another year and playing in a top league and we will have one hell of a player on our hands.

Also it's one game. Foden was MoTM against United but how many would have him start on Monday now he's played a few more?

Loaning players such as Maffeo is exactly why we have Girona. There's no downside.

Exactly this. Let him do it all season in a tough league then he can come back and will be given an opportunity to stake his claim in the side. For those saying it was a mistake loaning him, that would suggest they'd rather he stayed which would have meant not signing at least one of Danilo and Walker. As good as he was today, in no way is he currently better than either of those.

Job done.

Contractual friendly boosting up their coffers for the season and the 'win' to give their team confidence.

Wouldn't read much into it really.

We played the friendly too support Girona because it is important for City that they do well, but a bit much to expect a great performance when we have Everton in a few days time.

I think had one of Foden or Diaz played it wouldn't have been so difficult. But it's a lot to ask playing them together

I was actually surprised how well they competed to be fair, looked more hungry(to be expected) for the ball although often not getting it cleanly(alot of those would be blown up against La Liga opposition especially the big teams) and the pitch needs work as a lot of players were loosing their footing on it. I think they might surprise a few teams if they can build on this though.

Well, Gorka is a reassuring asset to have on goal. Our CBS don't like that promising. Ramallo in first division can be dangerous. And we depend too much on pons for ball transitions. Without him, in front of pressure we only did long balls. Even so thanks for answering.
