There are fears Italy star Giuseppe Rossi could be out for up to six months with a serious knee injury.

The Villarreal talent picked up the injury during last night’s game with Real Madrid and is undergoing tests today.

If the initial concerns prove to be founded, then Rossi might’ve damaged the anterior cruciate ligament.

This tends to keep players out for between four and six months.

It would be a devastating blow to Italy, who have regularly looked to Rossi in their starting XI during the qualifying campaign for Euro 2012.

If the injury is confirmed, he could potentially miss the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, or at least be nowhere near match fitness.

No Rossi, no Nilmar. They need a win unless they have given up of even the Europa League spot, will be interesting to see if they come at us or put 11 behind the ball.

is Nilmar definately injured?

Good news for next week as I was really impressed with him at our place.

Shame if he's out for a while though as I wouldn't have minded us going in for him in Jan.

Rossi has only scored 3 goals in la Liga so far this season and 2 of those were pens so would not have worried me if he played.

Yup, knee surgery at the beginning of October, he missed the first game too.

you are a disgrage for human race

I've always felt Rossi is overrated from what I've seen of him on TV, but must admit I was really impressed with him at Eastlands. He was suprisingly strong on the ball. As someone else has mentioned though, the fact that Villarreal still have to play Napoli and Bayern means that his injury doesn't really benefit us.
