Respectfully, you work for the fire service, which has to be the most white male orientated organisation ever to exist in this country

And why is that? Maybe because the majority who apply are white males, so it stands to reason that the majority will be white. That’s slowly changing but in the end they can’t force anyone to join. Unless of course you want to change the goalposts to allow others to join, you know maybe reduce the bleep test because certain demographs cant meet the standard? I tell you what come back to me in 4 weeks when I’ve retired and I’ll tell you what really goes on.

my boss is a woman, her boss is a woman,her boss is a woman and i think her boss is a woman, i've worked at the airport for nearly 20 years and my immediate boss is the best boss i've worked for, i've had dealings with all the people above and they have all been very decent bosses, they all get things done rather than leaving things,eg, when i had been there 6 months i had a work review, i mentioned i wanted to get into the training side of things and before you know it im on an official course getting my qualifications to become a trainer

Spot on......Much like the Police/Ambulance services and armed forces,the applications are predominantly from those that still take a pride in the country,who want to protect,and aren't afraid of the consequences of such a career.

very happy in my job, one thing i have learnt in my 20 years at the airport and 40 years total of working is that happiness supersedes money ( dont get me wrong i would love lots of money), the job im doing at the airport now(training/instructor) i wouldn't swap for any job at the airport , it fits me personally, great hours 4 days on 4 days off , decent money(well i'm comfy, nice house,cars) ,and the big one for me job satisfaction the jobs above me include plenty of office work, and i'm just not cut out for the office environment, i did 7 years in an office ,earning pretty much the same if not more than im doing today , it drove me fucking mental , and i'm a bit too sweary which wouldn't help :)

its 630am , i start at 8am until 7pm and im looking forward to a hard but funny day at work, and there will be lots of people who read this would love to be in my shoes happy in their jobs.
