I've not had a fag for four days now, and it's not the nicotine lust that is driving me mad, it's the fact that I am constantly thinking about the fact I am giving up smoking. I can't eat a bowl of cornflakes without thinking about it. I'm doing it cold turkey, but I want to give up. Please, someone, anyone, tell me these thoughts will evaporate.

It will not beat me, I just want a bit of relief. Aaaaaggggghhh.

hi, you are a star man. i am mr anti smoking and i applaud anyone who can give up this dreadful pastime.dont know how old you are or if you have kids but if you do think about the effect YOUR habit has on them(or should you have any later on in life)
when a smoker has kids they risk him not being there for their 1st day at uni, their wedding, the first grandkid etc.they even risk passing on the effects to the kid itself.the smoker also of course are usually skint, £5 a packet goes along way to those new trainers that evey kid craves.now i and it looks like you know all this. i wonder how many other people are sat reading this think "fuck that, its all about me and my needs".
well done for trying and good luck with it.

I spend £6 a week on baccy. My daughter wants for nothing. I also took her in for her first day at Uni. She has more shoes than Imelda Marcos.

Good luck FPM.

It's withdrawal pangs from the nicotine fucking with you head, keep it up and within 3 weeks they will go!

just think of yourself too, once you conquer the HUGELY addicted cravings your health will return, your lungs will fight back and force out all the shite

you'll be a new person in 5 years!

I'm going to make my self a lovely roll-up now and applaud you

I have smoked on and off for years now,can go weeks without one and then just light up when i fancy one.Got up today and had a classic cigar whilst watching the scouse v rags game.

good man. I can almost picture you in Terry Thomas mode

Are you using nicotine replacement therapy - gum or patches? I recommend patches. I used the strongest and gradually reduced the dose. It takes much longer than the packet says. I did find that the patches removed the craving. Sticking on patches is even healthier - no carbon monoxide, tar, etc, etc. I had my last cig 4 years ago after 38 years smoking. Mind you I still fancy one now and again but that is tempered by the smell which makes me nausious now.

I don't care. I am going to beat this. I'm going to stop smoking. I have not had a smelly fag for days, and it's getting easier. If I light up again, it will be a sign of failure. And I'm not going to light up again. Ever.

I have a full packet of fags in front of me now, but I will not open it. Don't want to fail.

Used to casually smoke. Went out one night and smoked a whole pack. The next morning my mouth felt like a toilet and I never bought another pack. A nice glass of red wine and a bit dark chocolate has taken the place of cigarettes for me. I enjoy it more and its rich in antioxidants! Good luck.

I hope you die of cancer you prick bastard............still pretending to be American I see, you are so full of shit! one day posters will see through your deception!

Smoked a lot, a few years without Filter. Then one I opened my Computer Case and had a look at it inside... it wasn't just dust inside, it was a browny, gluey and stinky mass. All that is in your lunges too. From that day on I stopped smoking, nearly seven years now.
