Goalkeeper situation summer 25

How do people see our goalkeeper transfers happening in summer?

Rumours last year of ederson wanting out and a current injury.
Ortega not covering himself in glory when playing and probably wants to be 1st choice.
Carson must be thinking about retirement soon.

Could very easily be a situation where we have to replace all 3 in summer.

I'd like us to keep ederson for 1 more year, sell orrega and release carson.
Sign a new 2nd and 3rd choice but with the intention that they become 1st and 2nd choice the year after with the 3rd choice billing an older player similar to Carson when he signed.
 
Find it odd that we somehow arrived at the situation where both main goalkeepers would be out of contract at the same time. Need a new Director of Football...

They’re a similar age and so not sure it makes much difference in the long run. I expect at least one of them to leave and that would make it more likely that the other signs an extension as they’re more likely to play.

That obviously also depends on who we buy to replace the outgoing keeper. Maybe we need to extend a contract before getting in our new numbe 1/2.

In terms of planning I just found it odd. I agree on extending one, but they might want to see other possibilities before announcing that.

Ederson wanted out last summer and has been benched a few times for Ortega which probably pushes him closer to the door. One of the best ITKs also said this will be his last season (JeremyParnaby on Reddit). If we sign a younger first choice GK (Costa, Chevalier, Di Gregorio etc), I think it would be hard to keep Ortega as well

Yep. I guess hunger might be the other factor in play. The fire in the bellies doest seem to be there for either this season.

Maybe that’s just part of the whole team’s drop off and lower morale as a result.

Think your first idea is better. Neither of those would be good enough with their footwork. Not sure who would be but they aren't.
