Goalkeeper situation summer 25

Seen we have also been linked with Joan Garcia from Espanyol if we get him we should also take there rb Omar El Hilali both be easy to do because of release causes

This strikes me as a competes with Ortega type of signing as opposed to going all out and getting a number 1 for 5+ years.

Really? 28 aint that old for a keeper. easy play 5 years.

Could see him and a punt on the Lammers kid above as a pairing etc

Would be a huge shift in mentality from Pep and the club but the academy is full of very talented keepers. Maybe a safe pair of hands for a few years before we can blood one of them would be good?

The 3rd keeper being an academy keeper would be pointless for the players development, needs to be an older keeper that is happy to play out their career. Same as Carson and before him Wright. Makes little difference whether the 2nd keeper is homegrown or not if we have 4 other homegrown players.

Premier League clubs must submit a squad list containing a maximum of 25 players after each transfer window closes. Of these 25 players, no more than 17 can be non-"Home Grown". The remaining players must be "Home Grown," meaning they have been registered with a club affiliated with the Football Association (FA) or the Football Association of Wales for at least three seasons before their 21st birthday.

So
17 overseas
8 Homegrown
U21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2003.
U 21 as many as you like.

At the moment not including on loan players we have 17 overseas.
So we cant buy 1 more overseas player without offloading 1
So Kev, means 1 purchase.
Carson end of contract homegrown, other HG are
Ake, Stones, Walker(gone), Bobb, Foden, Grealish (?), McAt(?)
Others 1st team squad players are U21
Reis, Lewis, Echiverri, Nico O
Eddie, Ortega, if he go's, would give 2 more needed without doing a rebuild and free 2 places of the 17.
Rebuild is the reason I said, the 2nd needs to be HG and 3rd promoted from the academy, he can still play for them as Palmer did.

Deadwood needs to go before any rebuild

KDB doesn't mean 1 can come in, not including Walker and Phillips we have 19 overseas/free list Reis and Echeverri weren't registered on the CL list if they stay they will be next season . Include Phillips and Walker and we need 4 to go before one in one out.We only have 4 Homegrown none club trained spaces, so not they will probably be used up on 3 players other plus the 3rd keeper. So unlikely the nationality of the 2nd keeper makes any difference.

who is good enough to be second choice good enough with feet and prepared to be second choice ? Also will be sold by the club. I cannot think of anyone.

Academy kid worn develop by bro g third choice and not playing I think we have the best situation now and that’s what we will do going forward foreign 1 foreign 2 and HG third choice

Reis & Echi U21 for PL next year, Walker wont be coming back as Philips wont, I give up if he does.

Think it’s very unlikely we have 2 different squads for PL and CL ,we never have before and it’s too many players,and the 21/25 in the CL squad will expect to be in the PL match day squads. The only exception could be Gundogan but doubt very much 2 young players from South America are told you're in the PL but no CL. That's before you even try and get game time for Bobb and O’Reilly.
Sounds fine on paper, doesn’t work in the real world, where only 20 players make the match day squads.
The squad will be 17 free list 4 Homegrown for all competitions, maybe 2 or 3 club trained and maybe 2 or3 U 21 regularly with the first team, about 26/28 players.Any more is too many, even that will be difficult if it is a younger squad that stays fitter, though we might have more rotation.
 
Iñaki Peña maybe from Barcelona? Ter Stegen is returning/returned. Peña is good with his feet, has a strong leg and probably similar in shot stopping to Eddie. He's fairly young, 26 maybe, and Barcelona needs cash.
 
I wonder will we try to persuade Ederson to stay. Ortega will likely be off as he can’t supplant Ederson and he wants to be number one and get into the German squad.

We could see any of these scenarios.

Both keepers stay.

Ederson goes. Ortega number 1, new number 2.

Ederson goes, get a new number 1 & Ortega stays.

Ederson stay, Ortega goes & new number 2.

Both keepers go.
