Good Luck Hughesy - Stoke Sentinel

I've nothing really against Mark Hughes , and if he can do the same job at Stoke that he did at Blackburn then he could well turn them into a top half of the table side that are worth watching ......

it won't be easy for him , but they were going nowhere under Pulis , and only won NINE league games last season ....... someone like Mark Hughes surely has to be worth taking a chance on.

Anyone else think it would be epic if we saw Hughes and Stoke fighting against relegation from League 1 as his 3-year contract nears its expiry?

Hughes was 4 games shy of a "full" season at QPR (including cup games), and had only won 8 games, and would have achieved 30 points from those games, whilst spending a small fortune. In fact since he left us, he's only won 22 out of 77 games at Fulham and QPR, suggesting he has found his level. He lasted nearly a year longer at City than he should have, he should have been sacked just before christmas 2008 when we lost 2-1 away at West Brom, after a run of 3 wins in 13 games, and 2 wins in 12 league games.

Stoke are welcome to him, and the rest of the muppets he takes everywhere with him.

There you go mate, although you might want to avoid repeating the thread title in your publication.

If it's any consolation we get called much, much worse on other fans' forums.

Following the excellent work by my fellow Prestwich blue, I've decided it would be an even more classy gesture if we took out an ad in The Stoke Sentinel wishing our ex-manager good luck in his new job.

I'm told we can have a half-page for 3 Guineas and a full one for 5 Guineas. We need to give them 2 months notice so they can cut the wooden blocks they need for the printing so I need to know quickly who is in for this.

He'll be sacked by then.

See he's setting himself BIG targets, a top ten finish and to score goals. Stoke have always been reasonable in defence... up until now...lol!!

I still maintain that Stoke won't do any worse than they did last season .....

there are only so many 'names' that a club like Stoke will be able to attract , don't know why they didn't approach Martin O'Neill.

Probably/possibly not, but that may well be down to those below them rather than Hughes' ability. I'll concede he did a decent job at Blackburn, but that is 5 years ago, and he's done 2 bad jobs since, and also after doing an average job, crapped on another club in between.

That's NINE more than he did.

the man is a complete joke and you can rest assured Stoke will not be finishing anywhere near the top half of the table next season - will be a good punt for relegation.

He's not going to make too many changes except strengthen the forwards....

Stoke have the nucleus of an effective defence ... they only conceded two goals more than United did last season!

If Hughes can get a striker or two in , which they clearly need , it can only help them ......

the trouble is that , even if Mourinho took charge there , it would still be a struggle raising the money and attracting top class players to a club like Stoke , and they're gonna have to cut their cloth to suit and look for bargains ...... if i was Hughes i'd focus on the likes of someone such as Ricky Lambert at Southampton , for example ... a realistic target who may well not want to leave the saints , but who might just be 'persuaded' to!

Or even SWP !

I liked him, we were in a terrible state when he took over. he did wonders behind the scenes to make our club more professional. he could of course only go so far with us as he wasn't appointed by our owners. there was uneasiness and results were showing it.
had to go i'm afraid. he will do a miles better job than pulis for stoke.

just for a laugh have a quick look at this thread.

He wasn't nicknamed "Clueless" for no reason. Obviously, you'll have to be more dynamic and I think you'll have to give him two seasons before he really turns Stoke into relegation fodder
