Why will we be in Pot 2? I thought our league position reflected what pot we're on. So a likely 4th position finish = pot 4??

Top 7 league winners and the Champions League winners go in Pot 1, unless one of those league winners wins the Champions League, then its the top 8 league winners in pot 1 and the rest on coefficient...so Pot 1 it is...

That's right. City are currently 13th (or so) in the rankings, and Chelsea at least are above and won't count. As long as City finish in the top 4 of the PL (and get through any playoffs necessary!), it'll be Pot 2.
Pot 1 will be
Champs
league winners from Spain, Germany, England, Italy, Portugal, France and Russia.
The Ukraine champs will be seeded if the CL champs also win their league.
The next 8 teams in the rankings will be in pot 2.
