I don't really care if he becomes the best striker on the planet (which he won't), you cannot win things consistently if you have people in the squad who don't give a shit about the club, its fans, their manager, their team-mates. the guy is a basic bad apple

If having in the squad is so detrimental to a clubs chances of winning things I wonder why he has four league titles, a champions league medal and several domestic cup medals to his name.

Maybe you can win things with a disruptive influence in the squad or maybe, just maybe he's not as disruptive as is often made out.

So long then Mario. You're just another bloke I used to watch on a football pitch from afar every other week. I don't feel any connection to you or any other City player, and haven't done since we left Maine Road. Yes, you were a legend, but for all of the wrong reasons. It's not like you were Dennis Tueart...

Somebody asked me earlier this season who my favourite current City player was and I said I haven't had one for years, possibly since Willie Donachie was and still is my idol. I kind of grew up and realised they were mostly egotistical highly paid men in it for what they can get. Having said that the current crop does have some genuine lads but at some point they'll all probably move on like most of them do. Returning to the question of my favourite current player one man has been slowly winning me over and made me feel like I did when Willie's left foot was scoring own goals for Scotland (I cried that night watching it on Sportsnight). So stand up one Pablo Zabaleta, somebody whom I actually don't feel old enough about to call my favourite player and one who I would define as already a City legend and without doubt our player of the season so far.

As for Mario I wish him nothing but the best and hope one day he looks back favourably on his time here. He played his part and I hope he always has a small piece of MCFC with him wherever he ends up.

Glad to see the back of him to be honest. If you think he got 'chased out of town' then you are sadly wrong.

I knew we had to let him go when we won the league and instead of staying behind to go on the open top bus tour, he went back to Italy the same day. What a great character, what a lovely human-being. I think not.

For the occasional good moments, I say, well done Mario, for the rest of it, I say good riddance.

Funny how he makes it into the Top 10 of goals per minute in the all time Premier League stats then.

I couldn't give a shit about stats to be honest, I think in his whole time at City I've seen him actually give 2, maybe 3 performances where it looked like a) he cared and b) where he did anything consistent during his time on the pitch rather than ponce around and then do the odd moment.

He didn't get enough game time becuase he didn't perform as well as the other strikers. The people who look up to him as some kind of anti-hero need their heads testing.

I can't see him knuckling down at any club he ends up at. He much preferred to fuck about using the money his talent brought him than getting down and providing a professional approach for the money we paid him.

I loved the guy, and ten minutes after kick off and we hadn't scored I was calling for Mario to get on, but the minute he was on yer could see that in most instances he couldn't be arsed.

I loved the wink at the end of the semi. I laughed at the reaction of the MANUre titheads at his wink. I loved the comments he made post 1-6.

Life at MCFC over the last couple of seasons has been far from dull. But we move on.

My last thought is that I hope we haven't lost a shed load on selling him.

Me too. He was fun and he's going to be fucking brilliant. And we'll all be watching him do it for someone else because he was never going to get a fair crack either at this team or in this league. True shame.

Bollocks. No City player has ever been given more chances. He's thrown them all back in Mancini's face.

There is no argument to be made about judging someone over a parade.

Just one of many incidents that show the character of Balotelli. Most people would WANT to be there, for the team, to have a laugh with their team-mates and most importantly to respect and thank the fans of the club.

Tip of a rather large iceberg.

But this transfer is a great contribution, especially for the team spirit
"A rotten apple" is gone

Actually with amortisation we may have actually made a book profit, even if we get less than the £24m we paid for him...
