Gorton is a happy place.

I grew up in Gorton in the 1950's and early 60's, it was a great place, with lots of Coronation Street type streets and folk who were the salt of the earth...(With a few exceptions...Myra Hindley for example)

Gorton cross Street was a thriving place, full of busy shops. FHW shoes, Jerinas butchers, Wheelers Stores, Phil Greene Hardware, etc.....

Now, when I return it looks like Beiruit.

Maybe it's rose coloured spectacles?

My ex wife is from Gorton and I live in Altrincham! - both below the national average.

Also Gorton has the most concentrated number of blues by Twitter volume apparently.

it sounds like no one actually lives in gorton on this thread, can't be that nice.

I drove through Gorton last sunday and is wasnt there anymore ! At least it wasnt the Gorton I used to know, going back 30 years mind ! It now looks like a deserted shithole area of Detroit.

I do, along with many other Blues.

thats good :). whenever theres threads on here about "where blues live" there never seems to be many people from places like gorton or longsight, levenshulme it always seems to be people who used to live there like 30 years ago aha
