We have had some superb leaders of men , i go back to Tony Book , Doyle , Watson , Morrison and so many more but Vincent Kompany has combined leadership with unparalleled success , in the modern game you have to conduct yourself immaculately and he has done every thing asked of him to be considered our greatest ever.
September is going to be some send off for the big man.

Kompany granted he wasn't captain for the first FA Cup but the 4 league titles 4 league Cups(although in fairness I don't believe he played in them all)and an FA Cup puts him way out front

Kompany is our greatest ever captain in every single respect. Nobody even comes close. 11 years at the club, 10 major trophies and a CB who has popped up and scored some of the most important goals in our history. His leadership and connection with the fans has been incredible and on top of that he's reached out and made a contribution to the city as a whole, raising over £1m so far for his charity. He's a credit to himself, the club and is one of those rare players who is liked and respected by fans of other teams too. Hard to imagine we'll see anyone match what he's achieved for us again but here's hoping.
