Grow Up, Wake Up and Face the Facts...

I dont know if you disagree but i have always thought that a good manager is about signings more than anything else, once you get to this level the coaching of players will be about set plays and picking up on opponents weaknesses, things like richards not marking for the second goal or benjani taking the ball off richards when he had a v good chance to score is down to players decisions and cant be blamed on the manager. We have lost too many points this year on individual errors which has nothing to do with formation, tactics or motivation. I just think it is too easy to blame the manager because it is easy to replace him than half a dozen players. I never heard any player unrest while he was at blackburn, sometimes players will look for a scapegoat.

I do disagree. The very top managers are also very good coaches and should look to improve the players under their control.

Mourinho with Joe Cole was one that I've talked about a few times this week.

you cant coach out individual errors though, i just think dunne and richards(although young) should know the basics now, also especially strikers are either natural finishers or not, if hughes bought these players and they dont perform thats his problem but in the main most of the squad are pre hughes regime. His signings on the whole have been good and that is all you can judge him on at the moment. His motivational skills and tactcs seemed to work at blackburn so i have to put it down to the players

I disagree that you can't coach out individual errors. Focus, motivation and mental strength are definately things that can be worked on. Fitness could also play a part when it comes to lack of concentration late in the game.

And if that doesn't work, maybe some consideration to other players (Nedum) who are probably fairly desperate, and deserving of a chance.

I agree his signings on the whole have been good, but he has to do more than that. Otherwise why bother with a manager, we may as well just install him as director of football and let the team coach themselves.

Well put and Hughes has to improve in those areas if he is to have any chance of making some impression as a club manager but for now if he is to remain at this club he has to play his role in turning things around for the better of club and himself.

If players lack motivation and self belief as many apparantly do at present he has a big role in turning that around.

If his focus has been on the future thats a big mistake because the present is saying Hughes is not up for this role , he has to act on it and not just say in the press he and the players have to deal with it.

If our players lack professinal pride , then you either instill that in them or get rid of them and bring in players that do.
