You would think a broad sheet does a better job checking facts before putting it on their website

The contrast is great with last season's efforts that saw City knocked out 3-0 on aggregate by Thessaloniki in the obscurity of the last 32 of the Europa League.

Perhaps its old age but I swear we beat Aris Thessaloniki and went out to Kiev

Aris ? Who the f*ck is Aris ....................................... sorry just had to do it.

This article and the comments made me look back and I found this article about financial dealings just outside of Manchester.
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.meattradenewsdaily.co.uk/news/120710/uk___manchester_united_and_butcher_louis_eswards_.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.meattradenewsdaily.co.uk/new ... ards_.aspx</a>

All well known stuff but interesting .

£47 M in 1991 - how much today ? Seats were then £5 and standing £4 so admission prices are around 10 times.

So the 'exmanc' who said it has all been bought out of profits, ......

Ironically this article was extracted from David Conn's book 'The Football Business'. He currently writes for the Guardian.

I knew a butcher whose Dad drank himself to death after he lost all the council business to Louis Edwards and his alleged incentive schemes contained therein.

Wikipaedia states "an investigation by the Granada Television/ITV investigative journalism series World in Action alleged that such dominance had in fact been achieved through bribing school officials in order to win lucrative contracts in cities such as Manchester.[2]

The Granada investigation also claimed that his company supplied condemned meat that was unfit for human consumption to be used in school dinners"

I believe a number of people in Manchester considered this was true.

Sorry to hear about your mate's dad. I hope he now rests in peace . It is as well that the personal toll is not forgotten.

It wasn't Manchester mate, it was in the Midlands. His tentacles stretched much further than the majority of united's then fanbase.
