Guardiola: “If the club wants me, I want to stay here”

Personally, I think he sees the influence of referee's decisions as a driver to stay and eliminate them as a factor. With the questionable decisions of the last game, I don't think it's coincidence that he's saying it now.

I also think he values the fact that the club clearly values him and will let him play out his philosophies. Yes there is pressure to win, but the longer term goal is to build a self propelling dynasty of football recognised worldwide, hopefully with the academy playing a larger part in future.

But every time var is a factor, every time a journalist hopes to see him squirm under another challenge, every time the FA or UEFA find a new charge to bring against us or our players, I think that drives him to stay and beat that argument away.

Let Liverpool have a penality for every dive, let them have no injuries, that's now the new bar to overcomes and pep likes a challenge!

Good post. You are spot on. This is such a unique challenge. At Barca refs were on his side now he’s playing against them PLUS VAR. Very very difficult.

To win the league this season would be his greatest achievement. There is still hope.

Who wouldn't want him to extend his contract other than the the press who are without doubt along with others trying to unsettle the club. Poor Refereeing, Var, its not an excuse, its fact!

This WILL enrage the FA and the scum media. They’ve done everything they can to try and get him to leave city.

cnuts.

It would be amazing if he did stay here and leave a long lasting legacy and an association with a brand of possession based attacking football.

Finishing his contract, which means 5 seasons at the club, is a significant time for a modern manager but with the exception of Italy I do not see another league he is likely to manage in and as he is too young for International football I just hope the stars have aligned on this one.

The problem is this. Pep could be like Ferguson and stay for 20 years but if he loses his intensity then it all goes to shit.

Time isn't the issue, it's how long Pep keeps his hunger and how long the players buy into it.

In some ways the dippers winning the league this year might just be what it takes for Pep to stay longer, Just to put them and VAR back where they belong
