Gundogan - Back training 26th June '17

He's not been playing at Spuds - cheeky bid for Dier. He can play the holding roll which frees up Fernandinho to play box to box and less likely for the need to play Fernando.

Real shame as I think he is a brilliant player.

Lots made of the tackle but it looked accidental to me and its just one of those things imo.

Hopefully its not as bad as first feared and we get him back sooner rather than later.
No way. It was deliberate as fuck, sneaky knee into his legs and nothing like a proper challenge for the ball, it was dirty as fuck. The Watford player responsible for it even came over to apologise to Gundogan once he saw how severe the injury was.

An apology doesn't mean it's deliberate. An honest tackle, football is a rough game at times despite the divas involved who exaggerate it. Knocks happen.

It didn't look like he twisted it from the replay, hopefully it's an impact related injury and not a tear. He's been one of the plus points the past few months hope to see him back asap.

I thought this.

Very sorry for him. Seems like a good bloke.

If the report is bad, the fact it's the same knee, & taking into account the fact that even when he recovers, he won't be match fit & will need several games to get upto speed, I wonder if it's already time to look for a replacement, effectively for the season. Either in the academy or in the transfer window. Even if Delph came back & played like Colin Bell, he is always injured anyhow.

We can't assume either will be reliable in the forseeable future.

There were a whole host of non 'honest' challenges from Watford imo.

They were so bad that even City got free kicks.

There were a host of 'non honest' tackles from our lot too. It's part of football and players try to be sneaky. It doesn't mean the Watford player attempted to seriously injure Gundogan. Come off it, these things happen. I'm gutted btw as he's an awesome player, but it's an accident.

I'm sure he didn't attempt to seriously injure him, just injure him enough to get him off the pitch. Same as people who deliberately stamp on Silva's ankle (which they also tried).

We might go in recklessly at times, but we rarely do that.

And as the media & some of the thick as shit, wanker element on here have pointed out that we don't actually tackle at all, then we probably never do it ever.

Go back and watch the match.

They were doing sneaky, snide knees into our players thighs all the time.

It's one of the worst things in the premier league - shit players/teams who rely on 70's style of football of "getting stuck in."

It was dirty. I thought Watford were dirty all night. Teams are obviously under instruction to put as much pressure on us as possible as we seem to put ourselves in more danger than any front line can. I think Watford overdid that yesterday. There's a difference between putting someone under pressure and blatantly fouling.

We'll have to agree to disagree. If your argument was that he tried to foul Gundo and get away with it, and that was it, I could maybe agree as it happens with every team in every game. No way in hell do I think he tried to 'get him off the pitch' though. It was a nothing and these things happen, imo.

Only one angle shown here, but the idea that we're talking about some horror tackle is truly fucking risible. Even the notion that the Watford player deliberately kneed him is questionable at best

Not a horror tackle, in a leg breaking sense.

Just an attempt to hurt an opponent by taking his standing leg, when the ball is on the other side. Not a hope in hell of ever even getting within a foot of the ball & no intention of doing so.

edit, actually I'm starting to go with horror tackle.

The force lifts Gundogan's leg off the ground.
