I would be reticent to judge anyone on last years performance

Too a degree,but Silva going to the Euro's,not properly rested and fit,will hardly help an already declining player make a resurgence.

I feel Gundogan will play behind KDB more often than not.

That's not the point, he will get plenty of games next season but it will be more sporadic than we've seen before.. He also shouldn't be starting in the middle over KDB, Pep won't play him out wide anymore, too much of a liability in the systems he likes to play!!

Just out of curiosity Leighton, how many seasons did you feel yaya had left in him at the end of 13/14?? Silva is declining, if people want to admit that or not is a different story... He's still a brilliant player but we've seen the frustration with him this season, he will be phased out over the next couple of years and head home!!

Pain's me to say it but he seems to be fading. We should try and stay ahead of the curve. We could get decent money for Silva - maybe part of a swap deal?

In the period when David was fit last season I thought he was as good as ever, I think the issue for David is that he needs to be fit to be at his best, like any other player. If he is fit he is easily good enough for us still

I agree. He's not an ideal player in any position in a 442. But he could do various jobs in other formations.

I agree with Zin though, it's likely the next couple of seasons will see him gradually phased out & if he comes back injured, he will have a problem getting in the first 11.

I think that finally we have a number of options in the playmaker role...something we have never really had. Silva's ankles may get much needed respite more often, bringing him a lot closer the player we know. I wasn't disagreeing btw with your initial point, I would just reserve judgement on him

Where do you think KDB will play?

Literally right behind Kun.... His ability to drive and find a pass is exceptional through the middle, if Pep plays two attacking wingbacks, which we expect him to, KDB is integral to that system.... I see Silva maybe playing in a compact 3 sometimes with Gundogan fern/.........? But certainly not pushed out wide.
