Just out of curiosity Leighton, how many seasons did you feel yaya had left in him at the end of 13/14?? Silva is declining, if people want to admit that or not is a different story... He's still a brilliant player but we've seen the frustration with him this season, he will be phased out over the next couple of years and head home!!

He's had a shit season due to injury, I wouldn't judge him on last season imo

I'm judging him on his capabilities as a player, even at his best he won't be the first name on a Pep team sheet... He's still a brilliant player but it will be more from an impact perspective over the next 12 months, imo...

That said, he may surprise us and adapt his game!!

Cant see him going tbh

The lack of interest on midfielders might suggest that too

I think he still has 3 years left on his contract and I can't see anyone spending a lot of cash on him, not to mention pay his wages too. I'm confident he'll adapt, after all he is a magician.
Imo silvas probably getting to that stage in his career where he'll starting playing a bit deeper

433 with our midfield and front three being

Gundogan dinho silva
KDB Kun nasri

We'll agree to disagree on this one.... Should he start over KDB? out of curiosity

As alluded to, he has the euros this summer, when's he actually getting fit then? Free from this troublesome ankle...

Personally I don't think a fit David silva will start in city's side in 12 months, just my opinion however, I could be wrong!!

I don't know when he's getting free from this troublesome ankle, I'm not a doctor and I don't know the extent of the problem.

But what I do know is that when he's fit and injury free he's the best player in the league and has been for 5 years.

I think DeBruyne is a great player and I don't think it has to be a case of either or. We won't be playing a fixed shape in every game under Guardiola, our midfielders will play in a variety of positions in different systems.

But when Silva is fit, free from injury and on form, he's the first name on the team sheet.

Na mate, with the limitations of fullbacks he (1) can't play silva wide of a 3 and (2) will utilise a back 3 a great deal of the time.. It's the easiest way to get use to his system at first.... Silvas best role is in the number 10 role, however, KDB is superior in it...

It may be wishful thinking on my part, but my impression was very much that the problem of Silva was not getting over the injury rather than a decline in physicality like Yaya.
This does not mean he will get over his injury unfortunately but if he does I would not be surprised t see at least a couple of really good seasons from him.
He really was superb early last season.

I think the romance of the idea lives on in people.... The variety of midfield positions are still always rigid in a pep side, silvas Achilles heel is his inability to keep shape...

Anyway, it's not about dissecting the man, like I've said, he's still a great player, I just think his tenure will end sooner than others!!
