Had a good day

I was only youngster at the time but can remember when we played then in last game of the season in 1991 vividly. walking to Maine Road and watching mini bus and after mini bus of Mackems empty out with the occupants lining up to do a piss almost as soon as their feet had hit the ground. Great game and they helped demolish the Platt Lane stand afterwards.

I think my first visit was the 80/81 season. A midweek game & only 57 on the special into Seaburn. We were stood down the side. Their match program was called the Roker Roar & remember thinking it was a bit of an exaggeration until they got a corner & the racket made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

I remember it well. I've never seen an away support like it at Maine Road or at the Etihad. Thousands of Mackems all in good voice. I was only 12 and it was just over 18 months since the 5-1 derby was halted because of trouble in the North Stand. So when Sunderland fans started pouring on the pitch and City fans started going on as well, I was shitting myself. They then began to swap scarves and sing "Barcelona" together because United were playing them in the ECWC final days later. I've had a soft spot for Sunderland ever since.

Met some top locals.
Townley arms??? People were shocked Sunderland fans went in, but we were treat brilliantly.

Not convinced it was a 3 nil game but, it happens.
It was a a 3-0 game. But God I hope the Mackems smash the dirty barcodes next week.

Had a soft spot for Sunderland since the Leeds FA cup final and Jim Montgomery heroics, the earliest final I can remember. That was reinforced by them selling us Denis and Big Dave Watson, my favourite player growing up. I'll forgive them Mick Horswill.

Never tire of telling people how refreshing that 2014 League Cup final was.
Top day out thanks to the two sets of supporters getting along and just enjoying it - you'll always be welcomed by us.
The Townley lads are brilliant as well, so you picked the right place

Seconded
That was a brilliant day made even better by the Sunderland fans
Never met a friendlier bunch

I can’t remember! Typical me,remember everything except the name.

Was it this one?

I think this used to be known as the 'Pilot Cutter' ... but as you can see it's now known as the 'Harbour View' ... it looks like it changed names in the early-mid noughties.

One of my very favourite City memories, chatting to Mackems outside the Euston Tap after the game, proper fans. Real contrast with deluded Spurs fans a month earlier telling us we were lucky after that 5-1 exhibition at WHL.

I'm a big fan of the Sunderland pubs too, particularly Museum Vaults and Dun Cow.
