Since we played Hamburg in the UEFA Cup honkytonkman and myself have stayed in touch with a group of Hamburg fans. The plan was they would come over for a game during their winter break and the game we picked was the Blackburn game, convinced it would never be moved because of the telly.

By the time we found out the game had been moved the Hamburg lot already had flights and accommodation booked so they decided they would still come over for a piss up and take in another Prem game.

They came over on Friday and honkytonkman had organised we meet in Cloud 23 and then go to Eastlands for a tour of the ground which he organised with the Club who were brilliant (I will let him tell you more) and then back into town for a few beers in Shambles (to remind them of that evening although it was a bit more empty than last time and only a bit colder). They sang a few choruses of Invisible Man (which is their favourite song) and then onto Bem Brazil for some food.

When honkytonkman booked it he told the German lads it is a favourite haunt of some footballers and also as you can see from the photo it is also a favourite place for our new manager. Bobby Manc was brilliant - he had a load of photos taken with us and also posed for some with other diners in there. When he left we all stood and applauded him to which he shouted "thank you - ciao boys" which when I say it sounds a bit gay but when he said it sounded as cool as you would expect.

Anyway, just wanted to show you the photo - I am sure when Andy gets on at work tomorrow he will have others to put on . I also thinks this is what footie is all about - making new mates from other places and enjoying a good day. Just a pity our game was moved and they had to go and watch dirty Leeds instead!

Hi moonies lovechild

This is Chris from Hamburg. I just wanted to thank you and honkytonkman for taking us on the stadium tour. Although some of us already knew the ground from the game in April it was a very nice experience for all of us. We all had a great weekend in Manchester and we will return one day, that's for sure. But then we will be lucky to see a home game of City.

By the way, if you meet Bobby Manc again, please make sure that he has forgotten about the name Eljero Elia. ;-)

@ nashark

You can not be serious about saying that Schalke was the better away tour for you.
Concerning the result may be ;-), but Schalke /Gelsenkirchen is one of the shittiest towns in Germany. In Germany we have a saying about those kind of cities: "You would not even want to hang dead over the fence there"

Good luck to you for the Rovers game tonight.
